Government and agency response to soil erosion risk in europe [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Provides an assessment of soil erosion throughout Europe, an important aspect to control and manage if landscapes are to be sustained for the future. This book focuses on issues of: area specific soil erosion rates, on and off-site impacts, government ...

Determining the Relevance of Commonly Used Hydraulic Parameters for Representing the Water Erosive Force in Rock Mass Erosion within Dam Spillways

open access: yes
Spillways are essential control structures in hydroelectric dams for evacuating excess water during periods of high-water flow. These structures are generally excavated within a rock mass, without lining, and they take the form of a flow channel or a ...

Hopping‐Mediated Zero‐Bias Photocharge Retention in Solution‐Processed Van Der Waals Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid–liquid interface assembly enables the fabrication of solution‐processed MoS2 and WSe2 centimeter‐scale, nanometer‐thick type‐II heterostructures on paper. Interfacial charge separation and hopping‐limited recombination produce rectification and persistent photocharge retention at zero bias.

Spatiotemporal Dynamic Changes of Cropland in Rich and Coarse Sediment Areas of Middle Yellow River Basin Based on Multi-source Data Fusion Products

open access: yesShuitu Baochi Xuebao
[Objective] The rich and coarse sediment areas of middle Yellow River basin is a typical ecologically fragile area in China. Accurately quantifying the spatiotemporal dynamic changes of cropland in this region is crucial for evaluating regional food ...

Sacrificial‐Layer‐Assisted Heat‐Affected‐Zone Suppression in Laser Patterning of PET for High‐Performance Flexible Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A removable sacrificial polymer layer engineers the thermal boundary condition during nanosecond laser ablation of PET, suppressing heat‐affected‐zone formation without relying on costly ultrafast lasers. This strategy enables deep, high‐aspect‐ratio trenches with no detectable heat‐affected zone, templating silver‐filled mesh electrodes with record ...

Photoinduced Interfacial Electronic Modulation in Fe2O3‐BiVO4 Heterostructures for Enhanced Photo‐Assisted Zn‐Air Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Light irradiation activates the Fe2O3‐BiVO4 heterostructure, enabling efficient solar‐electrochemical coupling in zinc‐air batteries. The built‐in electric field drives directional charge separation, guiding photoelectrons toward oxygen reduction sites and accumulating holes for oxygen evolution, thereby reducing polarization and enhancing discharge ...

Tracing soil erosion with Fe3O4 magnetic powder: Principle and application

open access: yesInternational Soil and Water Conservation Research
Magnetic powder is regarded as an effective and economical tracer for estimating soil erosion. However, the principle and application for using magnetic powder to estimate soil erosion are still not fully developed.

Out‐of‐Plane Strain‐Decoupled Architecture for High‐Fill‐Factor Stretchable OLED Displays

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A vertically decoupled multilayer SOLED architecture separates emissive pixel islands from deformable interconnects, allowing low‐modulus elastomeric layers to accommodate applied strain and suppress strain transfer to the OLED region. This design, combined with transparent hybrid encapsulation, enables a high fill factor (∼75%), stretchability ...

Biodegradable 3D‐Printable and Coatable Antifouling Composites for Marine Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Marine biofouling damages submerged surfaces and raises greenhouse gas emissions. Biodegradable antifouling biocomposites were developed by hot‐mixing beeswax, Tween 80, and calcium stearate or stearic acid. Adjusting the component ratio enables processing via hot‐pressing, 3D‐printing, or dip‐coating.

Rainfall intensity profile induced changes in surface‒subsurface flow and soil loss as influenced by surface cover type: A long-term in situ field study

open access: yesInternational Soil and Water Conservation Research
Due to global warming, changes in the rainfall intensity profile (i.e., the temporal intensity distribution within a rainfall event) increase the difficulty of accurate erosion prediction and control.
