Paving the Way for Next‐Generation Solid‐State Waste Heat Recovery: A Thermomagnetic Materials and Systems Roadmap

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Unlocking thermomagnetic low‐grade waste heat recovery. This perspective provides a comprehensive roadmap for the development of thermomagnetic materials and systems. By addressing key engineering challenges across multiple scales, it bridges the gap between micro‐power IoT devices and large‐scale industrial applications. ABSTRACT Nearly half of global

The Influence of Water and Sediment Regulation on the Erosion and Deposition of the Yellow River Subaqueous Delta

open access: yes
Based on the numerical simulation software Delft3D v4.01.00, this study established a three-dimensional water and sediment transport model for the Yellow River subaqueous delta, and simulated the water and sediment diffusion as well as erosion/deposition

Degradable, Skin‐Conformal Nanocomposite‐Based Bioelectronic Patches for High‐Fidelity Electrophysiology and Gesture‐Controlled Robotics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A degradable, skin‐conformal bioelectronic patch combines a starch‐dominated nanocomposite conductor with a gelatin substrate to enable sensitive strain sensing, high‐fidelity electrocardiography, electromyography, electrooculography, and machine‐learning‐assisted gesture control.

3D‐Printed Gradient Shape‐Memory Strain Sensors With Rewritable Gauge Factors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printed shape‐memory strain sensor combines thermomechanical programming with gradient architectural design. Preset strain rewrites the gauge factor (GF), while the gradient geometry amplifies the response through strain redistribution. Reprogrammable sensitivity enables the same sensor to detect weak pulse signals and monitor large‐amplitude ...

THE ROLE OF ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION IN PREDICTING ADOPTION OF WIND EROSION CONTROL PRACTICES [PDF]

open access: yes
Logit and ordered probit analyses were used to identify factors associated with reduced tillage adoption, continuous spring cropping, and the number of changes made in response to wind erosion.

Bio‐Inspired Multifunctional Superhydrophilic Coatings With Remarkably Fast Self‐Healing Abilities

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We developed bio‐inspired multifunctional hydrogel‐based coatings that exhibit extremely fast/repeatable self‐healing abilities, long‐lasting anti‐fogging performance, superhydrophilicity in air, and underwater superoleophobicity. By doping multivalent metal‐ions into the hydrogel networks, which promoted hydrogen bonding formation and enhanced the ...

Prediction of Internal Erosion Parameters of Clay Soils Using Initial Physical Properties

open access: yes
This paper aims to predict the internal erosion rate index and critical shear of soils based on the initial physical properties of soils. Regression statistical analyses were employed on sixteen types of clayey soils prepared at different initial dry ...

Magneto‐Ionic Devices With Polymer‐Based Electrolytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polymer electrolytes are introduced for magneto‐ionic devices based on hydroxide and hydrogen ions. The magneto‐ionic effect results in a pronounced voltage‐controlled variation of coercivity in both devices. The switching speed is in the range of 100 ms.

Soil Erosion Max Potential - Wind or Water

open access: yes
Provides a numeric rating in each raster cell of the potential for erosion by wind or water in the event that vegetation or other ground cover has been removed (e.g. by fire, over-grazing, land clearance).
