Soil Erosion by a Continuous Water Jet

open access: yesSoils and Foundations, 2002
ABSTRACT This article presents an experimental investigation on the erosion of soils using a continuous water jet. The experimental work shows the erosive behavior of the water jet and studies the different effects of its impact on the soil. The study presents empirical relations for the volume of soil cut, the jet diameter and its expansion with the

Multifunctional Solid Polymer Electrolyte Films Integrating Intrinsic Self‐Healing and Dual Photo‐/pH‐Responsive Ionic Sensing for Intelligent Flexible Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multifunctional solid polymer electrolyte (SPE) films integrating intrinsic self‐healing, mechanical stretchability, and dual photo‐ and pH‐responsive ionic conductivity are developed. Constructed from thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and hydrogen‐bonded poly(thiourea triethylene glycol) (PTUEG3), these films form a dynamic supramolecular network ...

Meniscus‐Guided Soft‐Lithographic Assembly of Grid‐Type Molecular Martensite Films for Single‐Crystal‐Like Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A meniscus‐guided microtransfer molding strategy enables scalable fabrication of grid‐type molecular martensite films with b‐axis‐correlated preferential texture. Sequential growth across microchannel intersections creates structurally continuous grids and robust thermoelastic actuation (∼11% strain, > 50 cycles, maximum force density: 7.1 × 109 N m−3).

Optimising soil disturbance and mulch attenuation for erosion and runoff control in asparagus crops [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Exposure of bare soil for long periods and onsite compaction create soil and water problems in asparagus production. This project aims to develop a cost effective and practical runoff and soil erosion management system.
