Ten years of external control of the fluoride level in public drinking water provided by Brazilian cities, Brazil, 1996-2006 [PDF]

open access: yesRGO: Revista Gaúcha de Odontologia, 2008
Objective: To evaluate the program of external control of water fluoridation performed in the periods between 1996 and 2006 by ten cities: eight in the State of São Paulo, one in Minas Gerais and another in the State of Ceará.

Biointerfacing with AgBiS2 Quantum Dots for Pseudocapacitive Photostimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
It is demonstrated that AgBiS2 quantum dots exhibit unique photoinduced pseudocapacitive charge transfer properties, enabling efficient light‐to‐electrical energy conversion. These quantum dots facilitate enhanced light absorption and transduction when integrated with ZnO nanowires, which serve as an effective charge transport medium.

Fluoridation and Queensland difference [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
On many issues, Queenslanders beg to differ. The fluoridation of water supplies is one such issue. In this piece, Harry Akers explores aspects of the history and politics of the fluoridation debate and tries to get to the bottom of this instance of ...

A comparison of dental fluorosis in adult populations with and without lifetime exposure to water fluoridation

open access: yesCommunity Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology, 2018
OBJECTIVES There is a lack of evidence on the proportion and severity of fluorosis in adult populations exposed and not exposed to fluoridated water over their lifetimes.

Photothermal Hydrogel with Mn3O4 Nanoparticles Alleviates Intervertebral Disc Degeneration by Scavenging ROS and Regulating Extracellular Matrix Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The MPTT‐nanozyme‐hydrogel system (Mn3O4@ChS‐HA) provides a multifunctional therapeutic strategy for intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD), effectively targeting oxidative stress and enhancing AF repair by restoring extracellular matrix (ECM) and redox homeostasis.

Why Do We Worry about Trace Poisons? [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Dr. Mazur relates how protests by the political left against nuclear tests and by the political right against fluoridation set the stage for Silent Spring to move the public toward being concerned about latent ...

Water fluoridation for the prevention of dental caries.

open access: yesCochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 2015
BACKGROUND Dental caries is a major public health problem in most industrialised countries, affecting 60% to 90% of school children. Community water fluoridation was initiated in the USA in 1945 and is currently practised in about 25 countries around the

Fluoride concentrations in the water of Maringá, Brazil, considering the benefit/risk balance of caries and fluorosis

open access: yesBrazilian Oral Research, 2015
Current Brazilian law regarding water fluoridation classification is dichotomous with respect to the risks of and benefits for oral diseases, and fluoride (F) concentrations less than 0.6 or above 0.8 mg F/L are considered outside the normal limits. Thus,

Dual‐Mode Film Based on Highly Scattering Nanofibers and Upcycled Chips‐Bags for Year‐Round Thermal Management

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intelligent radiative cooling devices, adaptable to various weather conditions, have the potential for year‐round energy savings. This study introduces a sustainable dual‐mode film made from polycaprolactone nanofibers and upcycled chip bags for effective thermal management.
