Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

A solar water heater for remote communities

open access: yes, 1991
The RADG has been developing a solar water heater suitable for use in remote areas. The original inspiration for this project was to provide hot water for remote Aboriginal communities.

Liquid biopsy‐based diagnostic evaluation of hypermethylated CpG sites for ovarian cancer diagnosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This schematic outlines the workflow from biomarker identification to duplex MethyLight assay validation for epithelial ovarian cancer diagnosis using cfDNA‐based liquid biopsy. Initial screening of hypermethylated CpG candidates (cg02957270, cg10061138 cg00480298, COL2A1) was performed in tissue using ARMS‐PCR, COBRA, qPCR and image analysis. Selected

An appropriate technology solar water heater for remote communities

open access: yes, 1989
Ill-health in Aboriginal communities exists today in modern, affluent Australia and is well documented. It appears that there has been some improvement in the infant mortality rate.

DESIGN AND TEST THE PERFORMANCE OF THE WATER HEATER BY UTILIZING THE EXHAUST HEAT OF THE LABORATORY SCALE AIR CONDITIONER

open access: yesRekayasa Mesin
The purpose of this research is to design and test the performance of a water heater unit that works based on the exhaust heat of the ½ PK Split Air Conditioner condenser which will be used as a power source to heat water with a capacity of 60 litres ...

Possible Waste Heat Recovery in the Condenser of a Regenerative Steam Cycle

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2007
The present work is concerned with a new steam cycle proposed as a modification to the normal regenerative steam cycle. A steam ejector and an extra feed water heater are incorporated into the latter cycle.

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Inhibition of cyclin‐dependent kinases 12/13 using CT7439 as a treatment for colorectal cancer with CDK12 upregulation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The proposed mechanism of action for the CDK12/13 inhibitor and cyclin K degrader, CT7439. CDK12/13 inhibition interrupts transcription elongation, leading to increased DNA damage that results in cell death. This agent is a potentially novel treatment option for patients with colorectal cancer. Created in BioRender. Cyclin‐dependent kinase (CDK) 12 and

Analysis of Lack of Fusion in Welds at Water Heaters [PDF]

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2007
The paper treats a weld discontinuity called lack of fusion, which is frequently a cause of leakage of a water heater. The heater was produced by MAG welding using two wires (twin arc welding).
