Cementitious materials show anomalous behaviour during capillary imbibition: a lack of linearity of the mass gain versus the square root of time. This is considered to be caused by the water retention in the calcium silicate (C-S-H) structure (and ...

Icariin promoted the growth of Akk by enhancing the activity of N‐acetylgalactosaminidase (Amuc_0920), which enhanced mucin utilization and provided a favorable nutrient environment for bacterial growth. This icariin‐mediated enrichment of Akk further reshaped the tumor microenvironment and promoted CD8+ T cell infiltration, ultimately synergizing with

O‐GlcNAcylated TAP1 Impairs Antigen Presentation and Promotes Immune Evasion in Bladder Cancer
This article unveils a critical mechanism of immune evasion in bladder cancer, which the O‐GlcNAc modification of TAP1 disrupts antigen presentation. This modification triggers HLA‐A degradation, shielding tumor cells from CD8+ T cell attack. The findings highlight targeting this pathway as a promising therapeutic avenue to sensitize tumors to ...

Despite widespread exposure, the mechanisms of manganese neurotoxicity remain poorly understood. Using correlative cryogenic fluorescence and synchrotron X‐ray fluorescence imaging techniques, we show that the Golgi apparatus is the primary accumulation site for manganese in both neurons and astrocytes, and that manganese targets the neuronal ...

The Relationship between Imbibitional Damage and Initial Water Content of Soybeans
The relationship between imbibitional damage and the initial water content of soybean seeds was investigated. Imbibitional damage such as the lack of cotyledons was serious at water contents below 10% but not over 20%. The water content of 10% was the point below which the signal of inorganic phosphate in cytoplasm disappeared in 31P-NMR spectra and ...

Redox‐Dependent Chaperoning of GBF1 Condensates Regulates Seed Germination in Arabidopsis
In dormant seeds (low ROS), GBF1 forms liquid condensates to repress the germination gene CathB3, and the chaperone GIP1 maintains condensate liquidity and repressive activity. Upon imbibition (high ROS), ROS oxidize GIP1 during germination, impairing its chaperone function.

Imaging porosity evolution of tight sandstone during spontaneous water imbibition by X-ray Micro-CT
Water imbibition is an important process in reservoir rocks during hydraulic fracturing and water-based enhanced oil recovery operations. However, the water imbibition behavior in tight sandstones has not been fully understood due to their complex pore ...
