The aim of this study was to apply osmotic dehydration (OD) to produce minimally processed chayote (Sechium edule (Jacq.) Swartz) slices. Thus, the effect of osmotic solution concentration, temperature, processing time, and vacuum pulse application on ...

Air humidity, stomata & transpiration [PDF]
The plant's water status is the balance of water uptake and water loss. Transpiration (water loss) in influenced by sun, wind humidity, leaf area, and opening of stomatal pores in the ...

Spatial variation in water loss predicts terrestrial salamander distribution and population dynamics
Many patterns observed in ecology, such as species richness, life history variation, habitat use, and distribution, have physiological underpinnings.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

ABA-induced active stomatal closure in bulb scales of Lanzhou lily
Abscisic acid (ABA) mediated stomatal closure is a highly effective mode of active stomatal regulation under drought stress. Previous studies on stomatal regulation have primarily focused on the leaves of vascular plants, while research on the stomatal ...

Thermal Stability of Azurite and Malachite in Relation to the Formation of Mediaeval Glass and Glazes [PDF]
Azurite and malachite have been extensively used as pigments in ancient and medieval manuscripts, glasses and glazes. The thermal stability of naturally occurring azurite and malachite was determined using a combination of controlled rate thermal ...

Insensible water loss in surgical patients
Abstract Insensible water loss has been studied before, during and after abdominal surgery of moderate severity. It has been shown that if normal hydration is maintained there is no significant change in insensible water loss. Patients who become relatively dehydrated have a significant fall in insensible water loss but there is no ...

Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.
