Mexican consumers' attitudes toward irradiated and imported apples
Abstract This study centers on analyzing Mexican consumers' willingness to pay (WTP) for imported US fresh apples subjected to irradiation, contrasting it with the more prevalent postharvest chemical treatments. We collect data using a survey tool in Qualtrics designed to explore the impact of information dissemination through two distinct narrative ...

ABSTRACT The iron regulatory hormone hepcidin contributes to the pathogenesis of anemia of inflammation (AI) by inhibiting the iron exporter ferroportin in target cells, causing hypoferremia. Under acute inflammation, hepcidin induction requires hemojuvelin (Hjv), a bone morphogenetic protein co‐receptor, while Fpn mRNA is also suppressed in a hepcidin‐

We successfully constructed CAST/EiJ mice models infected with low‐dose vaccinia virus (VACV‐L), high‐dose VACV (VACV‐H), and mpox virus (MPXV), demonstrating that VACV‐L and MPXV infections induced splenomegaly in mice, and VACV‐H infection caused mortality in mice.

Microbiological Monitoring for Water-Quality Assessment
The weakest link in the chain of events leading to production of reliable microbiological-monitoring data is a poor or indequate sample. This results primarily from diversity of environmental conditions from which a sample must be collected. In surface waters affinity of microbiological organisms for suspended particles necessitates that sampling ...

An Update: Enzymatic Synthesis for Industrial Applications
Biocatalysis has become a sustainable and cost‐competitive alternative to established chemical synthesis, enabling the enzyme‐based production of not only commodity chemicals but (non‐natural) amino acids, (rare) sugars, as well as synthetic nucleotides.
