Métodos inmunológicos utilizados en la identificación rápida de bacterias y protozoarios en aguas Immunological methods for the quick identification of bacteria and protozoa in water

Microbiology of Water and Fluids for Hemodialysis

open access: yesJournal of the Chinese Medical Association, 2008
In hemodialysis, huge amounts of water are used for diluting the concentrates to produce dialysis fluid. The water is produced on site by reverse osmosis units. The chemical and microbiological quality of the water is essential for dialysis patients.

Mineral water: a microbiological approach

open access: yesWater Supply, 2012
The microbiological quality of bottled mineral water of various domestic brands sold in Brazil was investigated, with particular focus on the heterotrophic plate count (HPC). Neither total coliforms nor Escherichia coli were found in any 1.5 L bottle samples. Total coliforms were found in 2.9% of the small bottles, while in 20 L bottles the presence of

Dissolving Microneedle for Maintaining the Integrity of HPV Virus‐Like Particles Enabling Durable Sterile Protection Across Various Mucosal Tissues

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A novel dissolving microneedle platform preserves HPV virus‐like particle (VLP) immunogenicity by maintaining structural integrity, crucial for eliciting potent immune responses. Buccal administration induces robust immune response, high neutralizing antibody titers, and durable sterile protection across oral and vaginal mucosal sites.

Comparative Genomics of Candidatus Methylomirabilis Species and Description of Ca. Methylomirabilis Lanthanidiphila

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
Methane is a potent greenhouse gas, which can be converted by microorganism at the expense of oxygen, nitrate, nitrite, metal-oxides or sulfate. The bacterium ‘Candidatus Methylomirabilis oxyfera,’ a member of the NC10 phylum, is capable of nitrite ...

Microbiological quality of bottled water

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 1997
Bottled water is now the biggest selling soft drink in Europe (van Musschenbroek, 1995) with sales topping 700 million litres in 1994 in the UK alone (Natural Mineral Water Association, pers comm). As part of a wide ranging UK Department of the Environment Programme to assess possible risks from the consumption of drinking water from all sources, a ...

Toward Noninvasively Imaging pH at the Surface of Implanted Orthopedic Devices in Live Rabbits Using X‐ray Excited Luminescence Chemical Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Imaging pH in a live rabbit at the surface of a sensor‐coated titanium plate using X‐ray excited luminescent chemical imaging (XELCI). A raster scanning X‐ray beam generates radioluminescence from a spot on the sensor, and the luminescence passes through the tissue and is collected at two wavelengths to determine local pH.

Identification of Early Colonizing Bacteria Involved in Formation of Dental Unit Waterlines Biofilm Using TA Cloning

open access: yes치위생과학회지
Background: Bacterial adhesion is the first and the most important step in biofilm formation in dental unit waterlines (DUWLs). Information on the initial adhesion and colonizing bacteria is needed to prevent biofilm formation in DUWLs. To identify the

Microbiological disinfection of water and air by photocatalysis

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Chimie, 2007
This article is aimed at presenting (i) a fundamental research on the efficiency of photocatalysis in water disinfection and (ii) the efficiency of a photocatalytic prototype, developed by Buxair firm, to remove avian influenza virus in air. In water disinfection, two model strains of Escherichia coli (K12 PHL849 and K12 PHL1273) were selected and a ...

Interstitial N‐Strengthened Copper‐Based Bioactive Conductive Dressings Combined with Electromagnetic Fields for Enhanced Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study developed a nitrogen‐strengthened copper‐iron‐zinc (N‐CuFeZn) alloy bioactive dressing integrated with electromagnetic stimulation. The coaxial dressing, made from 0.04 mm filaments with 1120 MPa tensile strength, showed that electromagnetic activation enhanced therapeutic outcomes by increasing VEGF expression, promoting angiogenesis (2.1 ...
