Water movement in porous materials: Part 2 - The separation of the components of water movement
Vapour conductivities kv estimated from hydrogen diffusion in porous solids of decreasing moisture content theta rise slowly from zero at saturation θT to a maximum near dryness, and then fall rapidly again to zero at complete dryness. Liquid conductivities kl, computed from pore size distributions, and estimated from previous water transport ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

FLUID FLOW MODEL BASED ON THE ANALYSIS OF WATER INJECTION DATA IN THE TURONIAN RESERVOIR OF THE LIAWENDA FIELD, OFFSHORE COASTAL BASIN OF D.R. CONGO [PDF]
Arranged the hydrocarbons in an oil reservoir require several techniques for their exploitation. The Liawenda field, discovered in December 1971 following the drilling of the Liawenda-01 exploration well, has a total of 186 wells with an annual ...

Despite frogs avoiding low temperatures, examination of four salamander species revealed that none avoided cold and all possessed cold tolerance. Functional analysis of TRPM8, a cold sensor, showed that all salamander TRPM8s had lost their cold sensitivity.

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Discourses and Conditions of Possibility in Latin American Social Movements: The Cases of the Bolivian 'Water War' and the Movement of Opposition against the New Airport in Mexico City [PDF]
This work presents a comparative analysis of two Latin American social movements. The first case is the movement of opposition against the privatisation of water and sanitation services (WSS) in Cochabamba, Bolivia and the second case is the movement of ...

Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Development of a critical structure state alarm system based on the instrumentation of the Botafoc breakwater nº 8 caisson [PDF]
Balearic Port Authority has developed an instrumentation system for the #8 caisson of the Botafoc breakwater that integrates 12 pressure sensors located at three surfaces, two in contact with the sea water and another with the bottom.
