A Water Quality Index for the Black Water Rivers of the Amazon Region [PDF]

open access: yes
A water quality index has not been developed for Amazonian blackwater rivers. In this paper, we used data collected in recent years to address this gap.

Oil and Grease as a Water Quality Index Parameter for the Conservation of Marine Biota [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Water quality indexes are a tool used to evaluate the physicochemical characteristics of a water body according to its use. The present study proposes the inclusion of oil and grease (OG) as a new water quality index (ICAMPFF-GA) parameter for the ...

Suitability of water quality index methods for assessing groundwater quality in the Ganges River basin area

open access: yesH2Open Journal, 2022
This study considered three different water quality indices (WQIs) for groundwater data collected from the middle-west part of Bangladesh, and the quantitative results were justified with the globally accepted water quality guidelines.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Water quality evaluation using water quality index and multivariate methods, Beheshtabad River, Iran

open access: yesApplied Water Science, 2018
Rivers are critical to agriculture, industry, and the needs of humans and wildlife. This study evaluates the water quality of the Beheshtabad River in Iran’s Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, using water quality index and multivariate statistical ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Evaluation on water quality index for river water quality management [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014

Appraisal of Surface Water Quality of Nile River Using Water Quality Indices, Spectral Signature and Multivariate Modeling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Surface water quality management is an important facet of the effort to meet increasing demand for water. For that purpose, water quality must be monitored and assessed via the use of innovative techniques, such as water quality indices (WQIs), spectral ...
