Sea Water: Saturation with Apatites and Carbonates

Science, 1964
Pacific Ocean water, on the average, appears to be slightly supersaturated at all temperatures with hydroxyapatite and carbonate fluorapatite. Water above 14°C is saturated with calcite, whereas water above 20°C is saturated with aragonite.

The permittivity of water and water vapor in saturation states

Russian Journal of Physical Chemistry, 2007
The applicability of several well-known equations describing the dependences of the relative permittivities of liquid water and water vapor on their densities and temperature is analyzed. An original semiempirical equation was suggested to relate the permittivity of equilibrium vapor to that of the liquid phase.

Water Saturation in Shaly Formation

Proceedings of Middle East Oil Show and Conference, 1997
Abstract Electrical log interpretation is a useful method for in-situ evaluation of hydrocarbon saturated formations. The relationship for such an interpretation is based on Archie equation which relates the porosity and formation factor.

Property equations for saturated water

International Journal of Refrigeration, 1987
Abstract Due to increased use of computers, it is becoming more convenient, for many engineering applications, to formulate the thermal and transport characteristics of the common working fluid, water, at the saturation state.

An Ice-Water Saturation Adjustment

Monthly Weather Review, 1989
A reasonably accurate and noniterative saturation adjustment scheme is proposed to calculate: (1) the amount of condensation and/or deposition necessary to remove any supersaturated vapor, or (2) the amount of evaporation and/or sublimation necessary to remove any subsaturation in the presence of cloud droplets and/or cloud ice.

Water‐intake of saturated soils

Eos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 1937
In his profound work “Data of geochemistry” Clarke accepts the estimate that of the total of about 337,000,000 cubic miles of water within the hydrosphere of the Earth, 29,347 cubic miles falls as precipitation on the land‐area and 6,524 cubic miles returns to the oceans as stream‐flow annually [see 1 of references at end of paper].

Metastable Flow of Saturated Water

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1951
Abstract This paper discusses the nature of the flow of saturated and nearly saturated water into regions where the pressure is less than the saturation pressure. It presents a method of computing the mass rate of flow through orifices and nozzles which is based on the rate of evaporation from a metastable liquid core into a surrounding ...

Barite saturation in sea water

Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, 1969
Abstract Thermodynamic calculations suggest that the total aqueous complexing of barium and sulfate and the presence of strontium in both aqueous and solid solution have a significant effect on the saturation relations of barite in sea water. Ocean waters in which pure BaSO 4 appears to dissolve may actually be saturated with respect to (Ba, Sr)SO 4

Formation Factor and Water Saturation

1989
Almost all water saturation calculations using well log data are based on equations that make use of ratios of resistivities. The resistivity of a rock determines its resistance to the flow of electrical current. The flow of electrical current is essentially through the water in the rock’s pore system.
