Water-Sorption Properties of Tablet Disintegrants

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1975
The water-sorption properties of four tablet disintegrants, starch, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, sodium starch glycolate, and a cation-exchange resin, were examined in the form of powders and in compressed tablets prepared from calcium phosphate dibasic dihydrate.

Water vapor sorption of hyaluronic acid

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1970
Abstract Water vapor sorption isotherms were obtained for three samples of hyaluronic acid. Reproducible isotherms were obtained for all sodium and potassium hyaluronates while the acid form of one hyaluronic acid sample exhibited increased sorptive capacity for three successive sorption isotherms. The values of Brunauer-Emmett-Teller, hysteresis and

Antimony sorption at gibbsite–water interface

Chemosphere, 2011
Antimony (Sb) is extensively used in flame retardants, lead-acid batteries, solder, cable coverings, ammunition, fireworks, ceramic and porcelain glazes and semiconductors. However, the geochemical fate of antimony (Sb) remained largely unexplored. Among the different Sb species, Sb (V) is the dominant form in the soil environment in a very wide redox ...

Water sorption in cellulose‐based hydrogels

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1996
Sorption of distilled water in a cellulose-based hydrogel is presented. The examined system is based on a mixture of sodium salt of carboxymethylcellulose and hydroxyethylcellulose, crosslinked with divinilsulphone. The effect of chemical composition, manufacturing procedures, as well as desiccation protocols on equilibrium water uptake was ...

Sorption and leaching behaviors between aged MPs and BPA in water: The role of BPA binding modes within plastic matrix.

Water Research, 2021
Due to the hydrophobicity and large specific surface area microplastics (MPs) have become the vector for the migration of environmental organic pollutants.

Water sorption in a dextran gel

Carbohydrate Research, 1975
The state of adsorbed water in a dextran gel has been investigated by near-infrared gravimetric-adsoprtion techniques. Water-vapor adsorption (desorption) isotherms at three temperatures are reported. The calculated sorption heats are found to be markedly temperature-dependent as well as dependent on the coverage.

Water sorption in poly(ammonium sulfopropylbetaines). II. Sorption isotherms

Journal of Polymer Science Part B: Polymer Physics, 1992
AbstractWater sorption by four amorphous acrylic and methacrylic poly(zwitterions) bearing ammonium sulfopropylbetaine side groups () was studied at a constant temperature of 23°C and over a broad range of water activity (0.14‐0.90). Whatever the physical state of the hydrated polymer, glassy or viscoelastic, water diffusion is Fickian (average ...

Water Sorption Thermodynamics in Polymer Matrices

2013
Water sorption is a key issue in assessing the durability of polymer matrix composites. In fact absorbed water can adversely affect mechanical properties of the matrix and fibre-matrix interface integrity. In this contribution the general issue of water sorption thermodynamics in polymers is addressed from the experimental and theoretical point of view.

Water sorption by size films

European Polymer Journal, 1990
Abstract The present work deals with the investigation of diffusion and structural properties of sizing agents used for sizing secondary acetate yarns in the presence of plasticizers including water. The plasticizers (glycerin, Turkey red oil, water) are found to act as structure forming agents by changing the packing density of structural units of ...

Water Vapour Sorption by Shales

Proceedings, 2016
Porosity and pore structure are very important parameters in many geological and engineering applications. With respect to shales or mudrocks, these properties are essential in the assessment of multiphase transport, geomechanical behaviour and storage/sealing capacity.
