Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Water stress during flowering of cotton
A severe plant water deficit imposed for nine days during the peak flowering period of cotton reduced yield more than stress periods of comparable length imposed either early or late in the flowering period.

Irrigation of young grapefruits with desalinated seawater: Agronomic and economic outcomes
Given the current scarcity of freshwater resources, it is imperative to explore new agricultural management options to sustainably enhance food production. Desalinated seawater (DSW) presents a promising solution for irrigation in water-stressed regions.

The Effects of Locomotion-Induced Shock Loading on Tibiofemoral Bone Stress Response
Purpose/Hypothesis: Knee osteoarthritis (Coats, Zioupos, & Aspden) is a degenerative joint disease that negatively impacts the quality of life. About 9.3 million people in the U.S. population are affected.

Supercooled and glassy water: Metastable liquid(s), amorphous solid(s), and a no-man's land [PDF]
We review the recent research on supercooled and glassy water, focusing on the possible origins of its complex behavior. We stress the central role played by the strong directionality of the water-water interaction and by the competition between local

The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Climate changes and water availability cause an important impact in agriculture, food disposal and consequently in human health. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the total population of the World is now over 7,032 billion, and all growth projections for developed and undeveloped countries show that a total of 9 million of inhabitants will be ...

One-dimensional compression of a crushable sand in dry and wet conditions [PDF]
This paper presents the results of a series of dry and wet one-dimenional compression tests on a calcareous sand from the Persian Gulf. Calcareous grains crush more easily compared to silica grains, a fact that is mainly attributed to their angular shape

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...
