Study on dynamic development of surface fractures in shallow coal seam mining through gully
In order to study the dynamic evolution law of surface fractures in different positions when coal seam is mined through a gully, the development characteristics of surface fractures are studied by using similar material simulation experiment and VIC-3D ...

Water surface slope spectra in nearshore and river mouth environments
With the ever-growing interest in satellite remote sensing, direct observations of short wave characteristics are needed along coastal margins. These zones are characterized by a diversity of physical processes that can affect sea surface topography. Here we present connections made between ocean wave spectral shape and wind forcing in coastal waters ...

Failure mechanism of loess landslide induced by water stagnation on the combined surface
In order to reveal the destructive mechanism of loess landslide induced by stagnant water on the combined surface, and to clarify the influence of the main control factors, this paper takes a typical loess landslide in northern Shaanxi as the research ...

Slope streaks on Mars: Correlations with surface properties and the potential role of water [PDF]
The Mars Orbiter Camera on board the Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft has returned images of numerous dark streaks that are the result of down‐slope mass movement occurring under present‐day martian climatic conditions. We systematically analyze over 23,000 high‐resolution images and demonstrate that slope streaks form exclusively in regions of low ...

Layered gravel soil slope stability of a waste dump considering long-term hard rain
In order to examine the effect of long-term hard rain on the layered gravel soil slope stability of a waste dump, the for-mula derivation relating natural water content, natural unit weight and natural volumetric water content was conducted to help to ...

Soil water storage and groundwater behaviour in a catenary sequence beneath forest in central Amazonia:
I. Comparisons between plateau, slope and valley floor [PDF]
Soil water storage was monitored in three landscape elements in the forest (plateau, slope and valley floor) over a 3 year period to identify differences in sub-surface hydrological response.

Study on the collapse mechanism of slopes containing weak interlayers due to rising water level
The centrifuge experiment was conducted to investigate the impact of weak interlayer reservoir bank slope water level rise on slope stability. The analysis of the experimental data revealed that the collapse of the reservoir bank slope was primarily ...
