Landslide model for slope of reservoir bank under combined effects of rainfall and reservoir water level

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2017
According to the landslide characteristics of the slope of the reservoir bank of Longjiang Hydropower Station in Yunnan Province, laboratory tests are conducted to investigate the characteristics of the landslide under the combined effects of rainfall ...

Failure Mechanism of the Qianjiangping Slope in Three Gorges Reservoir Area, China

open access: yesGeofluids, 2018
The Qianjiangping landslide is the first large-scale rock slide in Three Gorges Reservoir (TGR) Area, China, after the impoundment of the TGR. Previous studies on the slope showed that most researchers agreed that reservoir impoundment and rainfall were ...

Model tests of gravel soil slope under rainfall and slope toe immersion

open access: yesShuili Shuiyun Gongcheng Xuebao, 2019
Landslide disaster is the main geological disaster faced by China at present, and rainfall is an important factor to induce slope instability. The model tests of rainfall and slope toe immersion on gravel soil slope with 10%, 20% and 40% gravel contents ...

Effects of woodland slope on heavy metal migration via surface runoff, interflow, and sediments in sewage sludge application

open access: yesScientific Reports
Sewage sludge (SS) application to forest plantation soils as a fertilizer and/or soil amendment is increasingly adopted in plantation forest management. However, the potential risks of SS-derived heavy metals (HMs) remain a concern.

Discontinuous Galerkin Method For 1D Shallow Water Flow With Water Surface Slope Limiter

open access: yes, 2011
A water surface slope limiting scheme is tested and compared with the water depth slope limiter for the solution of one dimensional shallow water equations with bottom slope source term. Numerical schemes based on the total variation diminishing Runge- Kutta discontinuous Galerkin finite element method with slope limiter schemes based on water surface ...

On Extreme Spatial Variations of Surface Slope for a Spilling Breaking Water Wave

open access: yesJournal of Atmospheric and Oceanic Technology, 1999
Abstract The steep and complex crest structure of a spilling breaking wave was studied in the laboratory by repeated slope measurements at a fixed observation point of a sequence of virtually identical breaking waves. These waves were generated using a repeatable converging wave packet with maximum frequency of 1 Hz.

Analysis of slope erosion and failure mechanism under rainfall conditions based on field experiments: A case study of the residual slope of landslide and debris flow in Hexiluo gully, Ganluo County, Sichuan Province

open access: yesZhongguo dizhi zaihai yu fangzhi xuebao
Landslide/debris flow, dammed barrier lake, and subsequent dam-break floods constitute the most frequent geological disasters in mountainous regions, with heavy rainfall serving as the critical inducing factor.

Study on numerical simulation of groundwater flow field and slope stability in multi-aquifer open pit mine

open access: yesScientific Reports
Water is one of the most important influences on slope stability in open pit mines. In order to solve the problem of slope stability analysis in multi-aquifer open pit mines, the open pit mine in Block I of Thar Coalfield in Pakistan with multiple ...

Siting Considerations for Satellite Observation of River Discharge

open access: yesWater Resources Research
With growing global capability for satellite measurement of river discharge (flow) comes a need to understand and reduce error in satellite‐based discharge measurements. Satellite‐based discharge estimates are based on measurements of water surface width,
