Response of Three Grasses to Two Soils and a Water Table Depth Gradient
Ecology, 1966Three grasses–Calamagrostis canadensis, Andropogon gerardi, and Koeleria cristata–were grown for 13 months on two soil slopes in a greenhouse. One slope was composed of sand and the other loamy sand; the water table of each was controlled to create equal catenas with sites ranging from dry to wet. All three grasses were seeded uniformly over each tank.

NO3-N and Metolachlor Concentrations in the Soil Water as Affected by Water Table Depth
Transactions of the ASAE, 1996Experiments were conducted in lysimeters to study the effect of shallow water table (WT) depths on the transport of two commonly used agricultural chemicals, nitrate-N and metolachlor, to shallow groundwater. Groundwater samples were collected from 0.20-, 0.40-, and 0.60-m depths using suction tubes during the growing season.

Radio Wave Monitoring of the Depth and the Salinity of the Water Table
1973The extensive exploitation of the earth’s natural reserves in recent years and the ever-present danger of their pollution and ultimate destruction, make it imperative to implement new effective methods to monitor repeatedly, the quality and quantity of our indispensable resources.

Refraction determination of water table depth and alluvium thickness
Geophysics, 1968Abstract During an investigation of alluvium [in Wyoming] using a shallow refraction seismograph, time-distance curves obtained indicated two refraction interfaces. The shallower of the interfaces is the ground-water table, whose depth was obtained with an accuracy of + or -10 percent. The deeper interface is either the surface of the

Review of water table depth planning for a multi objective water management system
Irrigation and Drainage Systems, 1993In this paper, the concepts for planning and design of drainage depth will be reviewed in relation to the different requirements for maximizing crop production. The relationships of the drainage depth with other design parameters and their interdependency will be discussed.

Yield, water use efficiency and nitrogen recovery in potato: influence of water table depth
1997A lysimeter experiment was performed to study the influence of three permanent water table depths (0.45 m, 0.85 m and 1.20 m below the soil surface, WT45, WT85 and WT120) and a variable one (ranging between 0.40 m to 1.30 m, WT(var)) on photosynthesis, yield, tuber quality, WUE and NUE. Treatments were compared with a well-watered top-irrigated control.
