Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Investigation of Water Temperature Variations and Sensitivities in a Large Floodplain Lake System (Poyang Lake, China) Using a Hydrodynamic Model

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2017
Although changes in water temperature influence the rates of many ecosystem processes in lakes, knowledge of the water temperature regime for large floodplain lake systems subjected to multiple stressors has received little attention.

Features of under-ice zooplankton in Lake Pleshcheyevo (Yaroslavl Region, Russia)

open access: yesТрансформация экосистем, 2023
In March 2019, we studied the taxonomic composition, vertical and horizontal distribution of under-ice zooplankton in Lake Pleshcheyevo and revealed that its quantity (abundance 11.5–13.8 thous.ind./m3, biomass

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Evaluating Stress-Mediated Microbial Pathogenesis in Golden Shiners, Notemigonus crysoleucas

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2022
Flavobacterium covae (columnaris) is a microbial pathogen of the Golden Shiner (Notemigonus crysoleucas), a principal bait species. We investigated the effects of density and water temperature on the survival of fish subjected to a columnaris challenge ...

Water desalination using a temperature gradient

open access: yes, 2019
A new concept for reverse osmosis is identified based on the use of a temperature gradient instead of pressure. When the temperature of the permeate-side of the membrane is higher than the feed-side then a significant driving force exists for water ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Water exercise and health promotion

open access: yesJournal of Physical Fitness and Sports Medicine, 2013
During water exercise, it was established that heart rate, oxygen uptake and body temperature respond to the influence of water pressure, temperature, buoyancy, and viscosity.

The effect of water turbidity on the near-surface water temperature of larval habitats of the malaria mosquito Anopheles gambiae

open access: yes, 2008
Water temperature is an important determinant in many aquatic biological processes, including the growth and development of malaria mosquito (Anopheles arabiensis and A. gambiae) immatures.
