Nicotinamide N‐methyltransferase promotes drug resistance in lung cancer, as revealed by nascent proteomic profiling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
AZD9291 has shown promise in targeted cancer therapy but is limited by resistance. In this study, we employed metabolic labeling and LC–MS/MS to profile time‐resolved nascent protein perturbations, allowing dynamic tracking of drug‐responsive proteins. We demonstrated that increased NNMT expression is associated with drug resistance, highlighting NNMT ...

Efficient and low-cost temperature automated system for aquariums in fry hatcheries using control algorithms

open access: yesRevista de Ciencias Sociales, 2023
The purpose of this research is aimed to bring an alternative solution for the raising of fry in aquatic ponds, through the control and monitoring of water temperature, in order to optimize their development and growth, regardless of the habitat where ...

The Ability of Horseshoe Crabs (Limulus polyphemus) To Detect Changes in Temperature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Previous studies have suggested that horseshoe crabs prefer warm water, suggesting that they may be able to detect changes in water temperature. The overall goal of this study was to test this hypothesis.

Optimizing production efficiencies of hot water units using building energy simulations : trade-off between Legionella pneumophila contamination risk and energy efficiency [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The energy needed for domestic hot water represents an important share in the total energy use of well-insulated and airtight buildings. One of the main reasons for this high energy demand is that hot water is produced at temperatures above 60°C to ...

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

THE IMPORTANCE OF AQUATIC THERAPY IN THE TREATMENT OF THE CEREBRAL PALSY IN PRESCHOOL AGE CHILDREN [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of the “Ştefan cel Mare” University: Physical Education and Sport Section - The Science and Art of Movement, 2019
Cerebral palsy (CP) it is known as a condition that occurs in infants or in fetal development of encephalon. The main purpose in this study was to highlight the importance of aquatic therapy used as an alternative method or in parallel with ...

Spatial and temporal changes in assemblage structure of zooplankton and pelagic fish in the eastern Bering Sea across varying climate conditions

open access: yesИзвестия ТИНРО, 2015
Zooplankton and pelagic fish samples collected on the eastern Bering Sea shelf in late summer 2003-2010 were used to evaluate spatial and temporal changes in the plankton and nekton community structure.

Fuel-cell heat and mass plate [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
Plate, serving as heat pipe, can be built into cell to control temperature and water inventory. Plate consists of matrix, filled with liquid water, and a space, filled with water vapor.

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.
