DNA‐Templated 2D Heterostructures as Phototriggered Dynamic Nanohybrids: From Releasing Molecular Loads to Controlling Enzyme Biocatalytic Function

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.

Aquaporins and Root Water Uptake

, 2017
Water is one of the most critical resources limiting plant growth and crop productivity, and root water uptake is an important aspect of plant physiology governing plant water use and stress tolerance. Pathways of root water uptake are complex and are affected by root structure and physiological responses of the tissue.

Foliar Water Uptake in Trees: Negligible or Necessary?

Trends in Plant Science, 2020
Foliar water uptake (FWU) has been identified as a mechanism commonly used by trees and other plants originating from various biomes. However, many questions regarding the pathways and the implications of FWU remain, including its ability to mitigate ...

Water–Polymer Interaction during Water Uptake

Macromolecules, 2011
Water uptake by multilayer films plays an important role in their performance. Individual layers may consist of different polymeric phases. Understanding the water uptake in such systems requires knowledge of the water distribution, its state in the polymer, and influence on the polymeric phases.

Water sources for root water uptake: Using stable isotopes of hydrogen and oxygen as a research tool in agricultural and agroforestry systems

, 2020
Understanding water sources for crop water uptake in agricultural and agroforestry systems is an essential step to develop more efficient and sustainable water management strategies, which is increasingly important in the light of current world ...

Water-Uptake Capacity of Bentonites

Clays and Clay Minerals, 2010
AbstractThe present study compares the water-vapor adsorption capacity of bentonites (natural cation population) with the Enslin-Neff method. Water-vapor adsorption at 50% r.h. (relative humidity) or 70% r.h. is known to depend heavily on the amount of permanent charge and on the type of exchangeable cation. At ~80% r.h.

Water Uptake and Water Supply

2009
The water uptake and the water supply do not directly affect the mineral absorption of plants. However, many connections exist between the management of minerals and water.
