Water metabolism in free-ranging pine voles (Microtus pinetorum)
Rates of body water turnover in free-ranging pine voles exceeded those reported for a large number of similarly sized mammals. Concentrations of urine obtained from free-ranging pine voles were significantly lower than values published for other free-ranging mammals and also for laboratory-maintained members of this species.

Freshwater Landscape Reconstruction from the Bronze Age Site of Borsodivánka (North-Eastern Hungary)
This multiproxy work presents the archeozoological analysis of fish and microvertebrate remains from the Middle Bronze Age tell site of Borsodivánka (Borsod Plain, North-eastern Hungary). The fish faunal assemblage provides valuable data on the choice of

Estimation of water vole abundance by using surface indices [PDF]
A method to estimate the abundance of the fossorial form of the water vole Arvicola terrestris scherman (Shaw, 1801) has been developed, by using surface indicies. Results are compared to the standard method of estimation using trap lines.

Vole trapping fences - a new approach to migration barriers [PDF]
To control problematic vole species in organic orchards farmers can choose between different measures. Some methods like gassing, trapping and even the support of natural vole antagonists target to reduce vole population by killing individuals.

Warming summers limit reindeer grazing, weakening herbivory pressure in the mountain tundra
Climate change is predicted to alter species interactions by exposing ecosystems to increasingly frequent and intense warm spells. In the mountain tundra, grazing by large herbivores, particularly reindeer, can limit shrub expansion and preserve Arctic plant diversity.

American ginseng is a shade‐obligate, North American medicinal plant that is widely traded and used internationally. To meet global demand, ginseng is cultivated in forest farms in the Appalachian region of the USA and field‐based artificial shade farms in two regions: Ontario, Canada and Wisconsin, USA. We conducted social research leveraging in‐depth

The predatory effect of the honey‐buzzard affects the reproductive performance of Asian‐hornet colonies, decreasing the density of workers over distance and time. The foraging distances of the honey‐buzzard concentrates within the first 2000 m from nest, which supports the results observed.
