Capsicum annum, a new host of watermelon mosaic virus. [PDF]
The occurrence of Watermelon mosaic virus (WMV) in sweet pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) in Kurdistan province, Iran was confirmed by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and partial characterization of coat protein. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of WMV infecting C. annuum, adding a new host to list of more than

Inheritance of Resistance to Zucchini Yellow Mosaic Virus and Watermelon Mosaic Virus in Watermelon [PDF]
High resistance to zucchini yellow mosaic virus-China strain (ZYMV-CH) and moderate resistance to watermelon mosaic virus (WMV) were found in a selection of PI 595203 (Citrullus lanatus var. lanatus), an Egusi type originally collected in Nigeria. Mixed inoculations showed primarily that these two viruses have no cross-protection. This fact may explain

A screen house experiment was used to evaluate the mechanical transmissibility and effect of Watermelon mosaic virus (WMV) and Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) on virus infection, growth, yield of Kaolac and Sugar dragon watermelon cultivars. The treatments consisted of each cultivar mechanically inoculated with a virus and a buffer control; making 6 ...

Resistance to the Emerging Moroccan Watermelon Mosaic Virus in Squash [PDF]
Moroccan watermelon mosaic virus (MWMV) represents an emerging threat to cucurbit production in the Mediterranean Basin. We sequenced the near complete genome of MWMV-SQ10_1.1, a cloned Spanish isolate. MWMV-SQ10_1.1 has the typical potyvirus genomic structure, and phylogenetic analysis showed that it shared a common ancestor with other Mediterranean ...

Frequency and molecular characterization of watermelon mosaic virus from Serbia [PDF]
Watermelon mosaic virus (WMV) is widespread in cucurbit crops, most commonly occuring in temperate and Mediterranean regions. In Serbia WMV has been detected in single and mixed infections with Zucchini yellow mosaic virus and Cucumber mosaic virus in field-grown pumpkin and squash crops.

First Report of Watermelon mosaic virus Infecting Melon and Watermelon in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Hereby the expansion of host range of Watermelon mosaic virus (WMV, Potyvirus, Potyviridae), found previously on zucchini in Bosnia and Herzegovina (3), to two new hosts is reported. Also, this is the first finding of WMV “emerging” (EM) isolate causing more severe symptoms in some cucurbits than “classic” (CL) isolates (1).

Inheritance of Resistance to Zucchini Yellow Mosaic Virus in Watermelon [PDF]
Sources of resistance to the Zucchini yellow mosaic virus -Florida strain (ZYMV-FL) have been identified within the Citrullus genus. Inheritance of resistance to ZYMV-FL was studied in PI 595203 ( Citrullus mucosospermus

Inheritance of Resistance to Watermelon Mosaic Virus 1 in Cucumber
Abstract In crosses between Cucumis sativus cv. Surinam, resistant to watermelon mosaic virus 1 (WMV-1), and the susceptible line Wisconsin 2757, resistance was inherited as a monogenic recessive. The symbol wmv-1-1 was assigned to the
