Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Fluoride Content in Bottled Waters Used in the Nutrition of Infants and Toddlers

open access: yesČeská Stomatologie a Praktické Zubní Lékařství, 2007
Fluoride content of bottled waters from the customers foodproducts basket in the Czech Republic 2005-2006 was analysed electrochemically. It was found that bottled waters for infants contained no more than 0.1 mg of fluoride per litre as well as the ...

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Water Treatment Scheme

open access: yesINTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH IN ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT
Abstract- The village of Galapur faces significant challenges in accessing clean and safe drinking water due to contaminated water sources, inadequate sanitation, and limited access to healthcare facilities. The community's reliance on untreated water sources has led to a high incidence of water-borne diseases, affecting the health and well-being of ...

An Efficient ABE Scheme With Verifiable Outsourced Encryption and Decryption

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Attribute-based encryption (ABE) is a promising cryptographic tool for data owner (DO) to realize fine-grained date sharing in the cloud computing. In the encryption of most existing ABE schemes, a substantial number of modular exponentiations are often ...

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Momentum Conservative Schemes for Shallow Water Flows

open access: yesEast Asian Journal on Applied Mathematics, 2014
AbstractWe discuss the implementation of the finite volume method on a staggered grid to solve the full shallow water equations with a conservative approximation for the advection term. Stelling & Duinmeijer [15] noted that the advection approximation may be energy-head or momentum conservative, and if suitable which of these to implement depends ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Growth, production and water consumption of coriander in hydroponic system using brackish waters

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Engenharia Agrícola e Ambiental - Agriambi, 2018
An experiment was carried out in an adapted DFT (deep film technique) hydroponic system in PVC pipes to evaluate the growth, production and water consumption of coriander cv. ‘Verdão’, during June-July 2014. The experiment was carried out in a randomized

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.
