A Two-Stage Gradient Ascent-Based Superpixel Framework for Adaptive Segmentation

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Superpixel segmentation usually over-segments an image into fragments to extract regional features, thus linking up advanced computer vision tasks. In this work, a novel coarse-to-fine gradient ascent framework is proposed for superpixel-based color ...

Fair Deals for Watershed Services: Lessons from a Multi-country Action-learning Project [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Payments for ecosystem services make good sense. In the case of watershed ecosystems, downstream beneficiaries of wise upstream land and water stewardship should compensate these upstream stewards.

The Community – Based Flood Disaster Risk Reduction (CBDRR) in Beringin Watershed in Semarang City [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Population growth in Semarang city is certainly increasing land demand for settlement. Limited land and weak regulation enforcement of land control trigger the land use change including the watershed area.

Assessment of morphometric characteristics of Chakrar watershed in Madhya Pradesh India using geospatial technique

open access: yesApplied Water Science, 2017
The quantitative analysis of the watershed is important for the quantification of the channel network and to understand its geo-hydrological behaviour. Assessment of drainage network and their relative parameters have been quantitatively carried out for ...

From lactation to malignancy: A comparison between healthy and cancerous breast gland at single‐cell resolution reveals new issues for tumorigenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Single‐cell RNA sequencing reveals an opposite role of SLPI in basal tumors based on metastatic spread, along with shared activation of specific regulons in cancer cells and mature luminal lactocytes, as well as downregulation of MALAT1 and NEAT1 in the latter.

Imeglimin attenuates liver fibrosis by inhibiting vesicular ATP release from hepatic stellate cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Imeglimin, at clinically relevant concentrations, inhibits vesicular ATP accumulation and release from hepatic stellate cells, thereby attenuating purinergic signaling and reducing fibrogenic activation. This mechanism reveals a newly identified antifibrotic action of imeglimin beyond glycemic control.

RAD50 missense variants differentially affect the DNA damage response and mitotic progression

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
RAD50 incorporates into the MRN complex and initiates the DNA damage response. Furthermore, RAD50 promotes mitotic progression. RAD50 missense variants capable of forming an MRN complex supported the DNA damage response and mitotic features to different extents in complementation experiments, indicating these functions are separable and might impact ...

The Effects of Land Use Types and Soil Depths on Soil Micronutrients, Soil pH, and Organic Carbon in Southern Ethiopia

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Soil Science
Soil micronutrients are vital for the enhancement of soil and crop productivity. Its deficiency can result in severe crop failure. Hence, exploring the status of soil micronutrients under different land use types and soil depths is crucial.
