WAVE-WAVE INTERACTIONS, CURRENT-WAVE INTERACTIONS AND RESULTING EXTREME WAVES AND BREAKING WAVES

open access: yesCoastal Engineering Proceedings, 1980
The influence of an opposing current on highly non-linear transient breaking waves in deep water is described quantitatively from experiments. 3 new parameters that describe crest front steepness and wave asymmetry are introduced. Further, joint probability density distributions are obtained from an analysis of field data containing nearly 25000 storm ...

Impact of Wave–Current Interactions on the Detachment of Low-Salinity Water From Changjiang River Plume and Its Subsequent Evolution

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2022
The evolution of low-salinity water (LSW) detached from river plumes is critical to coastal systems and inner-shelf biogeochemical processes. In this study, the impact of wave–current interactions on the LSW detachment from the Changjiang River plume and

High-harmonic electron bunching in the field of a signal wave and the use of this effect in cyclotron masers with frequency multiplication

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2005
A method of organizing electron-wave interaction at the multiplied frequency of the signal wave is proposed. This type of electron-wave interaction provides multiplied-frequency electron bunching, which leads to formation of an intense harmonic of the ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Surface Wave Effects on Storm Surge: A Case Study of Typhoon Doksuri (2023)

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Storm surge is one of the most significant marine hazards in coastal regions of Fujian, China. Previous studies show that surface waves can exacerbate storm surge by providing additional momentum and mass flux.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Nonlinear Wave Evolution in Interaction with Currents and Viscoleastic Muds

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2021
A numerical model is extended to investigate the nonlinear dynamics of surface wave propagation over mud in the presence of currents. A phase-resolving frequency-domain model for wave-current interaction is improved to account for wave modulations due to

Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) in a Patient With Compound Heterozygous OPA1 Variants: Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) is a rare, life‐threatening neurological emergency with unclear etiology in many cases. Mitochondrial dysfunction, often due to disease‐causing genetic variants, is increasingly recognized as a cause, with each gene producing distinct pathophysiological mechanisms.

CFD modeling of orthogonal wave-current interactions in a rectangular numerical wave basin

open access: yesAdvances in Bridge Engineering
Sea-crossing bridges are subject to long-term simultaneous wave and current loadings throughout thier life cycle. The wave-current interaction makes the hydrodynamic load calculation difficult and challenging, especially in simulating the noncollinear ...
