The Wave Pump: Conversion of Wave Energy to Current Energy
Journal of the Waterway, Port, Coastal and Ocean Division, 1977The Wave Pump converts wave energy to current energy utilizing the momentum of waves which are close to or at the breaking stage. To improve the efficiency of the Pump so that even smaller waves become effective, waves are concentrated in a funnel. Funnel geometry therefore is an important parameter. So is the wave height over depth ratio.

Integrating wind and wave energy conversion
2011 International Conference on Electrical and Control Engineering, 2011This paper presents a scenario where wind and wave energy conversion techniques are collocated, enhancing per unit energy cost. Wave energy is one of the largest renewable resources in the world, but is largely untapped. By capitalizing on the already proven structural components of offshore wind conversion systems, efficient wave turbines could be ...

Power conversion for wave energy applications
5th IET International Conference on Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD 2010), 2010Wave energy converters require a power conversion stage to convert the variable output from an electrical generator into a constant voltage and frequency for grid connection. To enable further development in grid integration of wave energy converter systems, this paper looks at the main power conversion considerations in converting wave energy into ...
