LOAD ANALYSIS FROM WAVE GROUPS

open access: yesCoastal Engineering Proceedings, 1978
At the present time sea wave is described by means of two theoretical models, the first is based on regular waves, components of which do not change in time and space, and the second model is based on irregular waves, components of which are randomly changed.

A method for the prediction of extreme wave loads on a fixed platform

open access: yes, 2020
Design of offshore platforms requires accurate prediction of the maximum wave loads due to slamming on the structure. The physical processes that influence the load include the propagation of irregular short-crested wind-driven storm seas, wave breaking,

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Predictions of Ship Extreme Hydroelastic Load Responses in Harsh Irregular Waves and Hull Girder Ultimate Strength Assessment

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
In this paper, the hydroelastic motion and load responses of a large flexible ship sailing in irregular seaways are predicted and the hull girder ultimate strength is subsequently evaluated.

Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) in a Patient With Compound Heterozygous OPA1 Variants: Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) is a rare, life‐threatening neurological emergency with unclear etiology in many cases. Mitochondrial dysfunction, often due to disease‐causing genetic variants, is increasingly recognized as a cause, with each gene producing distinct pathophysiological mechanisms.

Dynamic Response of Marine Pile Foundation Under Combined Action of Wind and Wave Loads

open access: yesShanghai Jiaotong Daxue xuebao, 2021
In order to study the dynamic response of a single pile foundation under combined action of wind and wave loads in the marine environment, a three-dimensional unidirectional coupling numerical model of wind wave-seabed-single pile is established.

Remote Assessment of Ataxia Severity in SCA3 Across Multiple Centers and Time Points

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) is a genetically defined ataxia. The Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) is a clinician‐reported outcome that measures ataxia severity at a single time point. In its standard application, SARA fails to capture short‐term fluctuations, limiting its sensitivity in trials.

Numerical Simulations of the Hydraulic Performance of a Breakwater-Integrated Overtopping Wave Energy Converter

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2019
OBREC is the acronym that stands for Overtopping Breakwater for Energy Conversion. It is a multifunctional device aimed to produce energy from the waves, while keeping the harbour area protected from flooding.

Multidimensional Profiling of MRI‐Negative Temporal Lobe Epilepsy Uncovers Distinct Phenotypes

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Although hippocampal sclerosis (TLE‐HS) represents the most frequent cause of temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE), up to 30% of patients show no lesion on visual MRI inspection (TLE‐MRIneg). These cases pose diagnostic and therapeutic challenges and are underrepresented in surgical series.
