Rheumatoid Arthritis and Coronary Artery Calcium Progression: A Case Cohort Analysis from ELSA‐Brasil

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective To investigate the association between rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and coronary artery calcium (CAC) prevalence, incidence, and progression over four years in adults without prior cardiovascular disease. Methods A case‐cohort study within ELSA‐Brasil included 585 participants (86 RA, 499 controls). Longitudinal analyses were restricted to those

Numerical study on wave run-up height and depression depth around a vertical circular cylinder at various froude numbers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The turbulent flow past a circular cylinder has been studied extensively by previous researchers due to its importance in many engineering applications. In particular, the wave run-up is one of the most significant design factors when offshore structures

Development of Sustainable MgO–C Refractories Using MgO–C Recyclates and a Novel Eco‐Friendly Fructose–Tannin Binder Crosslinked With Citric Acid

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops sustainable MgO–C refractories using recycled materials and eco‐friendly fructose–tannin binders. The enhanced performance of citric acid as a cross‐linker and functional additives on mechanical and thermomechanical properties was examined. Characterization included strength tests, immersion trials, and microstructural and inclusion

Robust Spot Melting by 3D Spot Arrangements in Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work proposes an approach to replace separately melted contours for spot melting in electron beam powder fusion. Adapting the spot arrangements close to the contour combined with stacking yields a comparable surface quality without the inherent challenges of separate contours, as demonstrated, by electron optical images and roughness measurements.

Prediction Model of Breaking Wave Run-up

open access: yesJournal of Japan Society of Civil Engineers, Ser. B2 (Coastal Engineering), 2009
For investigation of beach processes, it is necessary to consider wave-driven sand transport. Hydrodynamics in the wave run-up area should be estimated accurately in order to predict the beach processes, however, the accuracy of existing numerical models regarding moving shoreline change are insufficient for the prediction of the shear stress and the ...
