Guided wave testing of rail

Insight - Non-Destructive Testing and Condition Monitoring, 2003
Guided wave inspection has a number of advantages over conventional ultrasonic inspection. For instance, guided waves can propagate over many tens of metres in rail, they can fully penetrate alumino-thermic welds and theyare very sensitive to cracks in the transverse-vertical plane that may cause catastrophic failure.

Test field in a sandwich wave spacetime

Classical and Quantum Gravity, 1997
Summary: Sandwich waves in the Einstein-Maxwell theory are expressed globally by introducing step functions at the boundaries. We show that a test particle crossing such a wave zone extracts energy from the sandwich wave.

Test Wave Approach 3. Generation of Plasma Waves

2002
In this chapter we will study particle distribution functions f a 0 (p) that lead to solutions of the dispersion relation with positive values of the imaginary part of the wave frequency, Γ > 0, and thus give rise to growing fluctuations. We will start out from the classical two-stream instability and then study in detail cosmic-ray-induced ...

Millimeter wave tests and instrumentation

65th ARFTG Conference Digest, 2005. Spring 2005, 2005
The recent growth in millimeter wave applications has created a corresponding demand for millimeter wave tests and instrumentation. Network analyzers, signal analyzers, signal generators, power meters and noise figure analyzers were discussed in this article. Optimum choice of instrumentation for specific applications were also be presented.

Wave Power Test Plants

Structural Engineering International, 1994
Ideas for wave power machines have existed for centuries but have rarely advanced beyond the drawing board. The technology needed to exploit the power of the waves commercially has not been sufficiently developed. A multi-disciplinary technical effort is required to achieve this goal.
