An ultrafast reconfigurable nanophotonic switch using wavefront shaping of light in a nonlinear nanomaterial

open access: yes, 2014
We demonstrate a new concept for reconfigurable nanophotonic devices exploiting ultrafast nonlinear control of shaped wavefronts in a multimode nanomaterial consisting of semiconductor nanowires. Femtosecond pulsed laser excitation of the nanowire mat is

Laser‐Induced Periodic Phase‐Transition of 2D‐MoTe2 Nanograting Template for Frequency‐Shift Digital‐SERS Immunoassay of Autoimmune Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A protocol of fs‐laser‐induced periodic phase‐transition of 2D‐MoTe2 template, inducing AuNPs@1T’‐MoTe2 nanograting, is developed. The labeled AuNPs@1T’‐MoTe2 substrate conjugated with specialized immunoglobulin G demonstrates an unexpectedly high discrimination accuracy close to unity for serological diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis by frequency ...

Measuring optical transmission matrices by wavefront shaping

open access: yes, 2015
We introduce a simple but practical method to measure the optical transmission matrix (TM) of complex media. The optical TM of a complex medium is obtained by modulating the wavefront of a beam impinging on the complex medium and imaging the transmitted ...

Ultra‐Wide‐Field Noninvasive Imaging Through Scattering Media Via Physics‐Guided Deep Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We propose a physics‐guided adaptive dual‐domain learning method for ultra‐wide‐field noninvasive imaging through scattering media, namely UNI‐Net. Our method not only reduces the requirement for real experimental data by an order of magnitude but also enables clear imaging of complex scenes with an ultra‐large field of view, which is 164 times the OME

High contrast imaging of exoplanets on ELTs using a super-Nyquist wavefront control scheme

open access: yes, 2016
One of the key science goals for extremely large telescopes (ELTs) is the detailed characterization of already known directly imaged exoplanets. The typical adaptive optics (AO) Nyquist control region for ELTs is ~0.4 arcseconds, placing many already ...

Uniformity and wavefront control of optical filters [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Conference on Space Optics — ICSO 2018, 2019
The present paper addresses uniformity effects in demanding dielectric optical coatings. The origins of spectral resonant wavefront errors (WFE) induced by non-uniformities in complex dielectric filters are investigated in detail. The coating is a broad-band beamsplitter with a high reflectance between 400 and 900 nm and a high transmittance between ...

Multi‐Channel Electrically Tunable Varifocal Metalens With Compact Multilayer Polarization‐Dependent Metasurfaces and Liquid Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A compact eight‐channel electrically tunable varifocal metalens with three single‐layer polarization‐multiplexed bi‐focal metalens and three LC cells. The total thickness of the device is ∼6 mm, while the focal lengths can be switched among eight values (3.6, 4.2, 4.5, 4.9, 6.2, 6.9, 8.4, and 9.6 mm). ABSTRACT As an essential module of optical systems,

Infinite impulse response modal filtering in visible adaptive optics

open access: yes, 2012
Diffraction limited resolution adaptive optics (AO) correction in visible wavelengths requires a high performance control. In this paper we investigate infinite impulse response filters that optimize the wavefront correction: we tested these algorithms ...

Spherical aberration correction suitable for a wavefront controller

open access: yesOptics Express, 2009
We propose a simple method to correct a large amount of spherical aberration caused by a refractive index mismatch. The method is based on inverse ray tracing and can generate correction phase patterns whose peak-to-valley values are minimized. We also demonstrated spherical aberration correction in a transparent acrylic block using a liquid-crystal-on-

Wavefront Line‐Scan Imaging Via a Single‐Pixel Detector

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We propose and demonstrate a wavefront line‐scan imaging paradigm that integrates 1D spatial light modulation with single‐pixel detection. Benefiting from 1D modulation, not only is the imaging speed improved, but also the storage of modulation patterns is reduced by several orders of magnitude.
