Intelligent Operator‐Independent Flexibility in Robotic Non‐Destructive Evaluation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Non‐destructive evaluation of high‐value components remains a manufacturing bottleneck due to rigid robotic calibration and fixturing. This study presents a flexible, adaptable system integrating 3D vision and force‐position control with a collaborative KUKA LBR robot. The geometry‐agnostic system enables pose‐independent ultrasonic inspection, detects

Study on the Difference in Wavefront Distortion on Beams Caused by Wavelength Differences in the Strong Turbulence Region

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In free-space optical communication, the transmission of signal light and beacon light of differing wavelengths through the same atmospheric channel encounters variations in how the atmospheric refractive index absorbs and scatters light.

Taming the degeneration of Bessel beams at anisotropic-isotropic interface: toward 3D control of confined vortical waves

open access: yes, 2015
Despite their self-reconstruction properties in heterogeneous media, Bessel beams are known to degenerate when they are refracted from an isotropic to an anisotropic medium.

Artificial Intelligence in Autonomous Mobile Robot Navigation: From Classical Approaches to Intelligent Adaptation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping autonomous mobile robot navigation beyond classical pipelines. This review analyzes how AI techniques are integrated into core navigation tasks, including path planning and control, localization and mapping, perception, and context‐aware decision‐making. Learning‐based, probabilistic, and soft‐computing methods

Axial range of conjugate adaptive optics in two-photon microscopy

open access: yes, 2015
We describe an adaptive optics technique for two-photon microscopy in which the deformable mirror used for aberration compensation is positioned in a plane conjugate to the plane of the aberration.

Electroencephalogram‐Driven Recognition of Parkinson's Disease Through a Mycelium‐Inspired Memristive Reservoir Computing Circuit

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This work presents a bio‐inspired computing framework for Parkinson's disease analog recognition using electroencephalogram signals. Temporally encoded EEG features stimulate a mycelium‐inspired memristive reservoir, where disease‐related patterns emerge through physical spatiotemporal dynamics.

Adaptive optics design for high-energy kW-class multi-slab laser amplifiers

open access: yesHigh Power Laser Science and Engineering
We demonstrate real-time wavefront correction in a high-energy high-average-power DiPOLE100/Bivoj laser using adaptive optics. A bimorph deformable mirror and a Shack–Hartmann wavefront sensor reduced wavefront error 10-fold and improved the Strehl ratio

Metasurfaces and Metadevices for Topological Electromagnetic Waves

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
Optical topologies refer to diverse topological localized structures made by diverse parameters of light fields, such as vortices, skyrmions, and hopfions. This article navigates a direction of metasurface‐based integrated devices for generation, manipulation and detection of novel topologies of light, which would be a rapidly growing interdisciplinary

Metalens‐Enabled Twisted Chromatic Dispersion

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
We successfully demonstrate visible broadband twisted dispersion metalenses. As a proof of concept, we realized two distinct devices: the conical helical and the spring‐like dispersion‐controlled metalenses. These results rigorously validate the universality of our approach in customizing arbitrary continuous 3D dispersion trajectories, thereby ...

Laser-controlled adaptive optic for beam quality enhancement in a multipass thin disk amplifier

open access: yes, 2018
We devise a laser-controlled adaptive optical element which operates intracavity under high intensity radiation. This element substitutes a conventional mechanically deformable mirror and is free of critical heat-sensitive components and electronics. The
