Prediction of wavefronts in adaptive optics to reduce servo lag errors using data mining [PDF]

open access: yesXXXIV Symposium of OSI, ICOP, 2009, 2009
Servo lag errors in adaptive optics lead to inaccurate compensation of wavefront distortions. An attempt has been made to predict future wavefronts using data mining on wavefronts of the immediate past to reduce these errors. Monte Carlo simulations were performed on experimentally obtained data that closely follows Kolmogorov phase characteristics. An

Full‐Space Spin‐Controlled Four‐Channel Metalens With Equal Power Distribution and Broad Bandwidth

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
In article xxxxx, Alex M. H. Wong and co‐authors propose a multifunctional full‐space metalens supporting power‐efficient, broadband operation for four spin‐controlled output channels. The metalens separates an incoming wave into four equi‐power, spin‐decoupled and function‐decoupled waves (two transmitted and two reflected).

Discrete Chiral Ballistic Polariton Laser

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Planar microcavities in the strong light–matter coupling regime exhibit exciton‐polariton modes with a strong chiral response toward circularly polarized light. This feature is exploited alongside inherent spin‐orbit coupling of cavity light to generate giant discrete optical vortices in polygonal arrays of exciton‐polariton condensates.

From Single to Multi‐Material 3D Printing of Glass‐Ceramics for Micro‐Optics

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
This article explores advancements in two‐photon lithography (TPL) for fabricating high‐refractive‐index micro‐optics. It examines single and multi‐material 3D architectures in glass and ceramics (GLACEs), highlighting photoresin customization, critical fabrication conditions, and cross‐scale structural and optical characterization.

Deciphering structural complexity of brain, joint, and muscle tissues using Fourier ptychographic scattered light microscopy

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
This study introduces Fourier ptychographic scattered light microscopy (FP‐SLM). It combines Fourier ptychographic microscopy (FPM), which images large fields of view with high resolution, and computational scattered light imaging (ComSLI), which visualizes densely interwoven fibers.
