Understanding the Workflows in Non‐Guided and Static Computer‐Assisted Implant Surgery

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Dental Research, Volume 12, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Contemporary implant dentistry aims to achieve long‐term biological, esthetic, and functional successful outcomes. Thus, instrumental to this aim is designing an integrated system in which the supported prosthesis & components, anatomical and phenotypical tissue characteristics, and the fixture act synergistically to maintain peri‐implant ...

An Effective Physics‐Informed Neural Operator Framework for Predicting Wavefields

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Machine Learning and Computation, Volume 3, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract Solving the wave equation is fundamental for many geophysical applications. However, numerical solutions of the Helmholtz equation face significant computational and memory challenges. Therefore, we introduce a physics‐informed convolutional neural operator (CNO) (PICNO) to solve the Helmholtz equation efficiently.

Turbulence‐Resilient Coherent Receiver Array on CMOS‐Compatible Silicon Photonics for Free Space Optical Communications

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 5, 16 March 2026.
A CMOS‐compatible silicon‐photonic 4 × 4 coherent receiver array spatially samples turbulence‐distorted wavefronts and, with maximum‐ratio combining, enables signal recovery. Experimental BPSK tests under moderate turbulence approach theoretical combining efficiency, reducing BER from 1E‐2 to 1E‐15.

Characterization and Localization of Chemical Explosions and Lightning Flashes by a Flotilla of Stratospheric Balloons

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 5, 16 March 2026.
Abstract On 3 August 2021, a flotilla of four Heliotrope solar hot air balloons was launched from central New Mexico (USA). The balloons, equipped with microbarometers, flew from sunrise to sunset at altitudes between 17 and 22 km. During the flight, eight chemical explosions ranging from 45 to 136 kg TNT equivalent and a thunderstorm occurred in the ...

Arbitrary Total Angular Momentum Vectorial Holography Using Bi‐Layer Metasurfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 15, 12 March 2026.
A bi‐layer metasurface platform is presented for arbitrary total angular momentum vectorial holography, where polarization and orbital angular momentum are exploited as independent multiplexing dimensions. By overcoming symmetry limitations of single‐layer designs, the approach generates distinct vectorial holographic images for each orthogonal TAM ...

Aspherical Surface Measurement With Multi-Directional Lateral Shearing Phase-Shifting Interferometry

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal
Lateral shearing interferometry is an effective method for directly measuring the depth gradient of aspherical surfaces. To address the low phase reconstruction accuracy resulting from the fact that lateral shear interferometers typically obtain only two

Holographic Whole‐Object Photopolymerization Preserving Director Alignment in Liquid Crystalline Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 13, 3 March 2026.
Holographic microlithography enables the fabrication of fully connected 3D liquid crystalline structures in a single exposure. The process maintains precise control over the director orientation within the entire object, preventing local director distortions typically observed in sequential printing.

Automatic Compressive Sensing of Shack–Hartmann Sensors Based on the Vision Transformer

open access: yesPhotonics
Shack–Hartmann wavefront sensors (SHWFSs) are crucial for detecting distortions in adaptive optics systems, but the accuracy of wavefront reconstruction is often hampered by low guide star brightness or strong atmospheric turbulence.
