Reflector shaping by optimization of wavefront shapes

Antennas and Propagation Society Symposium 1991 Digest, 2002
The shaping of reflector antennas has generally been done by solving a system of partial differential equations (PDEs) which describe the ray tracking system. The technique has been very successful in many cases but has some difficulties with existence and uniqueness questions due to the PDE formulation.

Fiber-Metasurface for Wavefront Shaping

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2017
An array of embedded subwavelength fibers is proposed as a flexible, large-scale and mass-producible metasurface for wavefront shaping. As a proof of concept, we numerically demonstrate beam deflector, focusing optics, high reflector and sinusoidal wavefront shaping.

The relativistic shape of spherical wavefronts

European Journal of Physics, 1998
We consider the shape of a spherically expanding wavefront as found by an inertially moving observer, with particular reference to the difference between the classical (Galilean) and relativistic cases.

Tailoring complex wavefront of scattered light via wavefront shaping

Journal of Optics, 2020
Abstract Tailoring complex wavefront is crucial for controlling the propagation and interference of light, but is quite challenging for optical systems that suffers random scattering. Here, we show that wavefront shaping can be used for tailoring complex wavefront on the target plane with phase-only control on the incident plane.

Deformable mirror for wavefront shaping of infrared radiation

Optics Letters, 2018
We present proof-of-principle results on terahertz wavefront shaping by means of a deformable mirror (DM). The DM is based on a reflective gold-coated steel membrane pushed by 35 powerful stepper actuators to enable a surface deformation of up to 1 mm out of equilibrium.

Neural Wavefront Shaping

Frontiers in Optics + Laser Science 2024 (FiO, LS)
This talk introduces neural wavefront shaping (NeuWS), a guidestar-free approach for imaging through optical aberrations. NeuWS integrates maximum likelihood estimation, measurement modulation, and neural signal representations to reconstruct diffraction-limited images through static/dynamic scattering media.
