Locking and wavelength selection of an ultra-collimated single-mode diode laser bar by a volume holographic grating [PDF]
Wavelength-locking by a volume holographic grating (VHG) is reported for a diode laser bar with 49 single mode emitters, fitted with a dual-axis collimation phase-plate for smile elimination and excellent beam pointing correction.

On Wavelength-Routed Networks With Reversible Wavelength Channels
We observe that the performance of wavelength- routed (WR) networks often suffers from asymmetric traffic and network traffic patterns differing from the original design plans. WR networks with a fixed number of channels in a given transmission direction are inflexible. Therefore, we propose reversible wavelength channels.

Ultra-broadband wavelength-swept Tm-doped fiber laser using wavelength-combined gain stages [PDF]
A wavelength-swept thulium-doped fiber laser system employing two parallel cavities with two different fiber gain stages is reported. The fiber gain stages were tailored to provide emission in complementary bands with external wavelength-dependent ...

Wavelength conversion at 10 Gb/s by four-wave mixing over a 30-nm interval [PDF]
We show that the use of a long semiconductor optical amplifier increases the error-free conversion interval of a four-wave mixing (FWM)-based wavelength converter.

Preferences of Dairy Cattle for Supplemental Light-Emitting Diode Lighting in the Resting Area
Light from the environment is important for vision and regulating various biological processes. Providing supplemental lighting in the stall area could allow for individually targeted or group-level control of light. This study aimed to determine whether
