Environmental Cycles, Melatonin, and Circadian Control of Stress Response in Fish

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2019
Fish have evolved a biological clock to cope with environmental cycles, so they display circadian rhythms in most physiological functions including stress response.

Design of Zero Dispersion Optical Fiber at Wavelength 1.3 m [PDF]

open access: yesمجلة التربية والعلم, 2018
In this article, an optical fiber was designed with zero- dispersion at wavelength of (1.3 m). The design took into consideration many factors of the fiber, such as; fiber cross- section, fiber material, refractive index.

Wavelength dependence and wavelength selectivity in photochemical reactions

open access: yesPhotochemical & Photobiological Sciences, 2019
The concepts of wavelength dependence and wavelength selectivity have been commonly used by organic photochemists for a long time. The aim of the present article is to offer a selection of relevant cases where the choice of the irradiation wavelength played a key role in the outcome of a photochemical path.

Theoretical Analysis of Suspended Road Dust in Relation to Concrete Pavement Texture Characteristics

open access: yesAtmosphere
Particulate matter (PM) originating from road dust is an increasing concern in urban air quality, particularly as non-exhaust emissions from tire–pavement interactions gain prominence.

On Wavelength-Routed Networks With Reversible Wavelength Channels

open access: yesJournal of Lightwave Technology, 2013
We observe that the performance of wavelength- routed (WR) networks often suffers from asymmetric traffic and network traffic patterns differing from the original design plans. WR networks with a fixed number of channels in a given transmission direction are inflexible. Therefore, we propose reversible wavelength channels.

Impact of optical wavelength on the reliability of photoplethysmography-based heart rate measurements outside of controlled laboratory environments

open access: yesCurrent Issues in Sport Science
Introduction The effectiveness of heart rate (HR) measurements via photoplethysmography (PPG) depends on the wavelength of light used. Typical PPG sensors use green, red, or infrared light, each penetrating the skin to different depths (Ray et al ...

The Effect of Magneto-Priming on the Physiological Quality of Soybean Seeds

open access: yesPlants, 2023
Microwaves have been applied to the drying of seeds of several species due to their maintenance of the quality of the seeds and reduction of time and costs. However, few is known about the effect of microwaves on the increase of the physiological quality

Research on infrared emission spectra of pulverized coal ash deposits [PDF]

open access: yesFME Transactions, 2013
This paper deals with thermal radiation properties of ash deposits on a pulverized coal boiler of an electric power plant. Normal emittance spectra in the 2.5-25 μm interval, and total normal emittance, were measured on 2 kinds of ash layers of a mm ...
