Efficient all-optical wavelength converter using saw-tooth pulses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Wavelength conversion is a key WDM function which is used to avoid wavelength blocking, thus allowing greater flexibility in the network design. Wavelength conversion of an intensity modulated signal can be simply achieved by employing cross-phase ...

Superlubricity and Corrosion Inhibition Properties of Solvate Ionic Liquids in Hybrid Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic–Steel Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Solvate ionic liquids lubrication reduced the coefficient of friction by ∼60% compared to dry sliding, reaching steady‐state values as low as 0.04–0.05. Corrosion weight‐loss measurements in 1 M HCl further demonstrated significant inhibition behavior, with only 100 ppm of [Li(G3)][TFSI] (∼68.5 μL/L) reducing corrosion‐product weight loss by 63 ...

The James Webb Space Telescope Absolute Flux Calibration. V. Near-infrared Camera Wide Field Slitless Spectroscopy

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We present the absolute flux and wavelength calibration of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam) Wide Field Slitless Spectroscopy (WFSS) mode. Each of NIRCam’s two modules (A and B) provides independent long-wavelength grism

Optical System of a Prism–Grating Short-Wave Infrared Spectrometer for Single-Pixel Imaging

open access: yesOptics
To circumvent the prohibitive cost of large-format infrared focal plane arrays and the significant spatial–spectral mismatch caused by spectral smile in conventional long-slit configurations, this work develops a low-cost short-wave infrared (SWIR, 1000 ...

Controlling Grain Growth in Powder Bed Fusion of Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia Using Femtosecond Lasers: Challenges and Methodological Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Binder‐free laser powder bed fusion of 8YSZ with a femtosecond laser is used to map process windows linking scan strategy, heat accumulation, and grain growth. Time‐resolved thermography and simulations reveal thermal regimes that enable continuous, vitrified, and fine‐grained 8YSZ surface layers without absorptive additives and demonstrate ...

Wavelength Calibration of Linear Array Spectrometers Using Cubic Hermite Spline Interpolation

open access: yesApplied Spectroscopy Practica
Wavelength calibration of linear array spectrometers is conventionally performed by fitting a polynomial function of pixels to calibration data consisting of spectral lines with known wavelengths and their pixel locations. Alternatively, a multiparameter

A Kernel-Based Calibration Algorithm for Chromatic Confocal Line Sensors

open access: yesSensors
In chromatic confocal line sensors, calibration is usually divided into peak extraction and wavelength calibration. In previous research, the focus was mainly on peak extraction. In this paper, a kernel-based algorithm is proposed to deal with wavelength

Morphology, Transport, and Dynamics of Protein Adsorption in Open‐Cell Metal Foam

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stainless steel (SS) open‐cell foams are shown to adsorb more protein per unit area than previously reported 316L SS and chromium oxide surfaces under static and flow conditions. An integrated approach combining 3D pore imaging, flow simulation, and protein adsorption experiments characterizes the foam’s performance.
