Broadband Wavelength Filter Device using a Sidewall Grating in Multimode SOI Rib Waveguide

Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2017
A filter device with a flat-top passband of Δλ pb > 40 nm is demonstrated using multi-mode SOI waveguide with a side-wall grating. The passband is bounded by highly extinguished sidebands of Δλ sb > 10 nm.

Filter switching device for dual-wavelength videoimaging

Journal of Fluorescence, 1996
An inexpensive, dual-wavelength, videoimaging system that can be used for parallel observation of two fluorescent dyes is described. All four filters, two for excitation and two for emission, are placed on the same oscillating holder. Filters are coupled with a single dichroic mirror having two spectral windows.

Development of wavelength selective shutters for device application for filters and smart windows

IEE Proceedings - Circuits, Devices and Systems, 1997
Ideal wavelength selective shutters (or filters) need to have sharp, high intensity, easily switchable absorption bands in the desired region of the electromagnetic spectrum. If such devices are to be used for smart window applications, then selective control of all the visible and near infra-red regions of the electromagnetic spectrum would be ...

Optical wavelength converter with a dynamic Brillouin filter and an electronic compensating device

Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 2006
We present an experimental and theoretical study of a highly robust wavelength converter at 10Gbit/s that is based on a narrow bandstop Brillouin filter. The wavelength conversion takes place in a semiconductor optical amplifier in a cross-gain-phase process, which operates in a weak-modulation mode.

Silicon Integrated Waveguide Devices for Filtering and Wavelength Demultiplexing

Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2010
Following different approaches, we have realized a number of different silicon integrated demultiplexers for WDM-based on-chip optical interconnects. We compare these devices based on their size, transmission loss, pass-band shape and tolerance against process variations.

Electro-optic wavelength filtering device for plasmon waveguides based on ordered arrays of Au nanorings

Optik - International Journal for Light and Electron Optics, 2013
a b s t r a c t Three-dimensional numerical modeling of a controlled plasmonic filtering device based on Au nanorings in an SiO2 host has been investigated. It is shown that a certain plasmon waveguide based on an ordered array of Au nanorings which utilized as a waveguide ring resonator (WRR) can be used to control the propagated optical energy and ...

Design of a spectrum inspection device based on a novel mechanism for optical filters in wavelength division multiplexing

The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2010
Optical alignment is of importance in spectrum inspection which is inevitable in the manufacturing process for optical filters. In the past, mechanisms with several manual axes have been used to realize such alignment, but these axes are coupled to each other.

Intermixing of InP-based quantum dots and application to micro-ring resonator wavelength-selective filter for photonic integrated devices

Applied Physics Express, 2014
In this study, we investigated quantum dot intermixing (QDI) for InAs/InGaAlAs highly stacked QDs on an InP(311)B substrate with low-temperature annealing at 650 °C in order to realize integrated photonic devices with QDs and passive waveguides. In particular, we adopted the method of introducing point defects by ICP-RIE to realize a blue shift of the ...

Demonstration of the MEMS Digital Micromirror Device-Based Broadband Reconfigurable Optical Add–Drop Filter for Dense Wavelength-Division-Multiplexing Systems

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2007
For the first time, an optimized optical add-drop filter (OADF) for dense wavelength-division-multiplexing systems is demonstrated using the Texas Instruments microelectro-mechanical-system Digital Micromirror Device (DMDtrade). This OADF features a polarization-insensitive fault-tolerant broadband operation, low loss, and the ability to selectively ...

A multifunctional all‐fiber device with a magnetic nanoparticles core mode blocker for wavelength bandpass filtering and multi‐to‐single mode conversion

Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2011
AbstractA multifunctional all‐fiber device that can simultaneously serve as a multimode‐to‐single mode converter and a wavelength filter is presented in this article. The device has a concatenated structure consisting of a multimode fiber, a hollow core fiber, a single‐mode core mode blocker (made of magnetic nanoparticles), and a long period fiber ...
