On Wavelength-Routed Networks With Reversible Wavelength Channels

open access: yesJournal of Lightwave Technology, 2013
We observe that the performance of wavelength- routed (WR) networks often suffers from asymmetric traffic and network traffic patterns differing from the original design plans. WR networks with a fixed number of channels in a given transmission direction are inflexible. Therefore, we propose reversible wavelength channels.

The Cu II Spectrum

open access: yesAtoms, 2017
New wavelength measurements in the vacuum ultraviolet (VUV), ultraviolet and visible spectral regions have been combined with available literature data to refine and extend the description of the spectrum of singly ionized copper (Cu II).

Spectrum and Energy Levels of Four-Times Ionized Yttrium (Y V)

open access: yesAtoms, 2016
The analysis of the spectrum of four-times-ionized yttrium, Y V, was extended to provide a large number of new spectrum lines and energy levels. The new analysis is based on spectrograms made with sliding-spark discharges on 10.7 m normal- and grazing ...

Positive bias in bird strikes to engines on left side of aircraft

open access: yesHuman-Wildlife Interactions, 2017
Previous studies have indicated more birds collide with communication towers equipped with red warning lights than with towers equipped with lights of shorter wavelengths. We used the U.S.

The dynamic chromosphere at millimeter wavelengths

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2022
The chromosphere is one of the most complex and dynamic layers of the solar atmosphere. The dynamic phenomena occur on different spatial and temporal scales, not only in active regions but also in the so-called quiet Sun.

Temperatures and qualities of light in Niger (Guizotia abyssinica (L.f.) Cass.) seeds germination in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil

open access: yesActa Agronómica, 2017
For each vegetable species, there is a specific environment conditions to occur the seed germination process. However, there is a little information regarding the necessary conditions for Niger (Guizotia abyssinica (L.f.) Cass.) seeds germination.

Nonreciprocal directional dichroism at telecom wavelengths

open access: yesnpj Quantum Materials, 2022
Magnetoelectrics with ultra-low symmetry and spin-orbit coupling are well known to display a number of remarkable properties including nonreciprocal directional dichroism.

Development of a Portable All-Wavelength PPG Sensing Device for Robust Adaptive-Depth Measurement: A Spectrometer Approach with a Hydrostatic Measurement Example

open access: yesSensors, 2020
Photoplethysmography (PPG), a noninvasive optical sensing technology, has been widely used to measure various physiological indices. Over-the-counter PPG devices are typically composed of a single-wavelength light source, namely, single-wavelength PPG ...

The Laboratory Astrophysics Spectroscopy Programme at Imperial College London

open access: yesGalaxies, 2018
Accurate atomic parameters, such as transition probabilities, wavelengths, and energy levels, are indispensable for the analysis of stellar spectra and the obtainment of chemical abundances.
