Wavelet analysis of DNA sequences
Genetic Analysis: Biomolecular Engineering, 1996Wavelet decomposition is applied to the analysis of the nucleotide sequence of the rhodopsin gene of Chinese Hamster cells. The Lipschitz-Hölder exponents for the probability measurements of adenine, guanine, thymine and cytosine distributions are obtained. The local scaling found by means of wavelet analysis is argued to be an indication of long-range

The objective of this paper is to introduce and classify various classes of wavelets and to discuss some of their basic properties. In particular, an identity of Littlewood-Paley type is given and is used to partially characterize wavelets and their duals.

Wavelets with Frame Multiresolution Analysis
Journal of Fourier Analysis and Applications, 2003Let \(A\) be a \(d\times d\) real expansive matrix, i.e., a matrix whose eigenvalues are all of modulus greater than 1. Then a function \(\psi \in L^2(\mathbb{R}^d)\) is an \(A\)-\textit{dilation wavelet} if the system \(|\text{det} A|^{n/2} \psi (A^n x - l)\), \(n\in \mathbb{Z}\), \(l\in \mathbb{Z}^d\), forms an orthonormal basis for \(L^2(\mathbb{R ...

Wavelet analysis for diagnostic problems
Proceedings of 8th Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference on Industrial Applications in Power Systems, Computer Science and Telecommunications (MELECON 96), 2002In this paper the problem of off-line diagnosis of analog circuits affected by catastrophic multiple faults is considered. Information on the circuit behavior is given by the voltage measurements in a set of available test points. Because of the huge amount of data involved in each voltage acquisition, it is necessary to apply a compression technique ...

Wavelets and time-frequency analysis
Proceedings of the IEEE, 1996We present a selective overview of time-frequency analysis and some of its key problems. In particular we motivate the introduction of wavelet and wavelet packet analysis. Different types of decompositions of an idealized time-frequency plane provide the basis for understanding the performance of the numerical algorithms and their corresponding ...

Wavelet analysis for progressive meshes
Proceedings of the 23rd Spring Conference on Computer Graphics, 2007We present a wavelet construction for irregular triangle meshes based on edge-collapse and vertex-split operations. We develop finite analysis filters separating detail coefficients from the geometry representation, based on local least-squares fitting of the control mesh.

Symmetry-adapted wavelet analysis
Proceedings of 3rd IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2002Wavelet analysis comes in two versions: the continuous one, used mostly for signal or image analysis, and the discrete one, originating from multiresolution analysis and particularly efficient in reconstruction and data compression. We review the construction of continuous wavelet transforms adapted to a given symmetry.
