A Dislocation Perspective on Strength and Toughness in Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Dislocations in ceramics enjoy a long but yet under‐appreciated history. The three research waves for dislocations in ceramics highlight the topic evolution over the last 90 years. This review focuses on the impact of dislocation on strength and toughness in ceramics.

Analysis of Network Security Data Using Wavelet Transforms

open access: yesJournal of Algorithms & Computational Technology, 2014
Data Analysis of Network Security is very important in intrusion detection and computer forensics. A lot of data mining methods to research it have been found, such as content-based queries and similarity searches to manage and use such data.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Quality assessment by region in spot images fused by means dual-tree complex wavelet transform

open access: yes, 2011
This work is motivated in providing and evaluating a fusion algorithm of remotely sensed images, i.e. the fusion of a high spatial resolution panchromatic image with a multi-spectral image (also known as pansharpening) using the dual-tree complex wavelet

Polarizable Vanadium Dipoles Promote Water Dissociation on Vanadium‐Based Metal Organic Framework

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The polarization of unpaired V 3d electrons weakens the H─O bond to improve water dissociation by the dual Vδ+:O─H and Pλ−:H─O coupling hydrogen bonds formation and relaxation. P@V‐MOF electrocatalyst shows low overpotentials (94 mV in acid, 178 mV in neutral, and 77 mV in alkaline solutions) with excellent stability for effective overall water ...

Orthogonality Conditions for Non-Dyadic Wavelet Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes
The conventional dyadic multiresolution analysis constructs a succession of frequency intervals in the form of ( π  / 2  j , π  / 2  j  - 1 ); j  = 1, 2, . . . ,  n of which the bandwidths are halved repeatedly in the descent from high frequencies to low

Dual Wavelet Frame Transforms on Manifolds and Graphs

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, 2019
In this paper, we consider the dual wavelet frames in both continuum setting, i.e., on manifolds, and discrete setting, i.e., on graphs. Firstly, we give sufficient conditions for the existence of dual wavelet frames on manifolds by their corresponding ...

Exploring an Alternative to mRNA Vaccine Cold Chain Storage: MRNA‐Lipid Nanoparticle Stability When Dried in a Polymer Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The nanostructure, size, and function of mRNA‐loaded lipid nanoparticles are evaluated before drying, within polymer microneedles, and after rehydration. The results reveal the polymer and LNP loadings required to recover nanostructure and preserve the delivery performance in dry‐state formulations.

A study of discrete wavelet transform based denoising to reduce the effect of artificial light interferences for indoor optical wireless communication

open access: yes, 2010
The optical power penalty (OPP) due to the artificial light interferences (ALIs) can be significantly high in an indoor optical wireless communication (OWC) channel making such link practically infeasible.

Transfer Printing and Reconfiguration of Soft Electronics Using Digital Microfluidics and Laser Machining

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This paper presents a digital microfluidics‐based technique for transferring and reconfiguring soft nanomembranes. Laser‐machined nanothin membranes are picked up, transported, and aligned via tailored surface tension and the actuation of water droplets, enabling the development of flexible electronics, the integration of functional materials on 3D ...
