Invisible Polymer Walls Enhance Reorientational Optical Nonlinearity in Oligothiophene‐Doped Liquid Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The polymer wall stabilized dye‐doped liquid crystals (PWLCs) enhance the sensitivity of photoinduced molecular reorientation in dye‐doped LC systems. The PWLC with an invisible polymer wall successfully reduces the threshold intensity and functions as an optical limiter under the incidence of low intensity light laser source.

Hyperanalytic denoising

open access: yes, 2007
A new threshold rule for the estimation of a deterministic image immersed in noise is proposed. The full estimation procedure is based on a separable wavelet decomposition of the observed image, and the estimation is improved by introducing the new ...

Unraveling the Electronic Structure of Silicon Vacancy Centers in 4H‐SiC

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The electronic structure of the silicon vacancy in 4H‐SiC is probed via transient absorption spectroscopy, uncovering previously inaccessible excited states of the quartet and doublet spin channels, including the V2' transition. In combination with theoretical analysis, a comprehensive picture of the electronic structure is established.

Retinal vessel segmentation using the 2-D Gabor wavelet and supervised classification

open access: yes, 2006
—We present a method for automated segmentation of the vasculature in retinal images. The method produces segmentations by classifying each image pixel as vessel or nonvessel, based on the pixel’s feature vector. Feature vectors are composed of the pixel’

Adaptive wavelet transforms via lifting

open access: yes, 2006
Conference paperThis paper develops two new adaptive wavelet transforms based on the lifting scheme. The lifting construction exploits a spatial-domain, prediction-error interpretation of the wavelet transform and provides a powerful framework for ...

Development of retinal blood vessel segmentation methodology using wavelet transforms for assessment of diabetic retinopathy

open access: yes, 2005
Automated image processing has the potential to assist in the early detection of diabetes, by detecting changes in blood vessel diameter and patterns in the retina.

Spiking Wavelet Transformer

open access: yes
Spiking neural networks (SNNs) offer an energy-efficient alternative to conventional deep learning by emulating the event-driven processing manner of the brain. Incorporating Transformers with SNNs has shown promise for accuracy. However, they struggle to learn high-frequency patterns, such as moving edges and pixel-level brightness changes, because ...

Demon Registration for 2D Empirical Wavelet Transforms

open access: yesFoundations
The empirical wavelet transform is a fully adaptive time-scale representation that has been widely used in the last decade. Inspired by the empirical mode decomposition, it consists of filter banks based on harmonic mode supports.

A STATISTICAL SHARPNESS MEASURE BASED MULTI FOCUS IMAGE FUSION USING DOUBLE DENSITY DISCRETE WAVELET TRANSFORM [PDF]

open access: yesICTACT Journal on Image and Video Processing, 2013
Image fusion is the process of combining two or more images of the same scene to form the fused image retaining important features from each image with extended information content.
