Mollification Based onWavelets
The mollification obtained by truncating the expansion in wavelets is studied, where the wavelets are so chosen that noise is reduced and the Gibbs phenomenon does not occur.

A new representation for solutions of Maxwell's equations is derived. Instead of being expanded in plane waves, the solutions are given as linear superpositions of spherical wavelets dynamically adapted to the Maxwell field and well-localized in space at the initial time.

Elastic wavelets and their application to problems of solitary wave propagation
The paper can be referred to that direction in the wavelet theory, which was called by Kaiser "the physical wavelets". He developed the analysis of first two kinds of physical wavelets - electromagnetic (optic) and acoustic wavelets.

Triangular Wavelets: An Isotropic Image Representation with Hexagonal Symmetry
This paper introduces triangular wavelets, which are two-dimensional nonseparable biorthogonal wavelets defined on the regular triangular lattice. The construction that we propose is a simple nonseparable extension of one-dimensional interpolating ...

This paper proposes a new method to improve the resolution of the seismic signal and to compensate the energy of weak seismic signal based on matching pursuit. With a dictionary of Morlet wavelets, matching pursuit algorithm can decompose a seismic trace

On the computation of directional scale-discretized wavelet transforms on the sphere [PDF]
We review scale-discretized wavelets on the sphere, which are directional and allow one to probe oriented structure in data defined on the sphere. Furthermore, scale-discretized wavelets allow in practice the exact synthesis of a signal from its wavelet ...

Applications of Wavelets to the Analysis of Cosmic Microwave Background Maps [PDF]
We consider wavelets as a tool to perform a variety of tasks in the context of analyzing cosmic microwave background (CMB) maps. Using Spherical Haar Wavelets we define a position and angular-scale-dependent measure of power that can be used to assess ...

The performance of spherical wavelets to detect non-Gaussianity in the CMB sky [PDF]
We investigate the performance of spherical wavelets in discriminating between standard inflationary models (Gaussian) and non-Gaussian models. For the later we consider small perturbations of the Gaussian model in which an artificially specified ...
