Investigation of Hydrate Agglomeration and Plugging Mechanism in Low-Wax-Content Water-in-Oil Emulsion Systems

open access: yes, 2018
Pipeline blockage caused by hydrates and wax in subsea pipelines is a major hazard for flow assurance in the petroleum industry. When hydrates and wax coexist in a flow system, the plugging risk is more severe.

Thermodynamics Prediction of Wax Precipitation in Black Oil Using Regular Solution Model and Plus Fraction Characterization

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2013
The precipitation of wax/solid paraffin during production, transportation, and processing of crude oil is a serious problem. It is essential to have a reliable model to predict the wax appearance temperature and the amount of solid precipitated at ...

Prediction of Wax Appearance Temperature Using Artificial Intelligent Techniques

open access: yes, 2020
The paraffin particles can promote and be involved in the formation of deposits which can lead to plugging of oil production facilities. In this work, an experimental prediction of wax appearance temperature (WAT) has been performed on 59 Algerian crude ...

Asphaltene Inhibition and Flow Improvement of Crude Oil with a High Content of Asphaltene and Wax by Polymers Bearing Ultra-Long Side Chain

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
A high content of asphaltene and wax in crude oil leads to difficulties in the recovery and transportation of crude oil due to the precipitation of asphaltenes and the deposition of waxes.

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

Wax Aggregation Inhibition in Crude Oil by Oxirane Ester Copolymer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Technology, 2016
Wax deposition can cause a serious problem in the distribution process of crude oil through a pipeline. At low temperatures, wax molecules can interact to form a wax aggregate. One way to reduce the wax aggregation is to introduce an additive compound

Treatments to prolong the postharvest life of Heliconia wagneriana Petersen

open access: yesOrnamental Horticulture, 2021
Tropical flowers have a growing market due to their exotic appearance and thus postharvest techniques are necessary to prolong their shelf life. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of wax and salicylic acid (1 mM) in reducing ...

Nutrient/TOR signaling controls adipose mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM) to regulate organismal growth in Drosophila

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Animals must match their growth rate to available nutrients. We show that in Drosophila larvae, the nutrient‐sensing TOR kinase controls growth by regulating levels of TFAM, a key regulator of mitochondrial function, in the adipose tissue. When nutrients are abundant, high TOR activity suppresses TFAM, lowering mitochondrial bioenergetic activity and ...
