Weak gravitational lensing with SKA

open access: yes, 1999
I shall outline the basic principles and some observational aspects of weak gravitational lensing, and discuss several applications of this powerful tool in observational cosmology. It will be explained why the applications have been restricted to optical observations up to now, and why SKA is going to change this. I conclude with a few general remarks

A Universal Way to Manipulate Droplet via Light‐Fueled Thermocapillary Convection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 2, 5 January 2026.
A non‐contact light‐induced droplet manipulation strategy fueled by mid‐infrared (MIR) light irradiation is introduced. No additional additives and/or complex substrate are required. Here, thermocapillary convection, directly generated by temperature gradient at outer surface of droplet via localized surface heating, plays a key role to propel the ...

Traumatic or Nontraumatic: A Case of Spinal Subdural Hematoma Caused by Multiple Factors

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Spinal subdural hematoma (SSDH) is a rare but potentially life‐threatening complication following spinal decompression surgery. Vertebral compression fractures in elderly patients are commonly associated with osteoporosis. This case illustrates how the interplay of bleeding diatheses, coagulopathy, and medication interactions may collectively ...

The Political Determination of Gaza's Health System Destruction and Reconstruction and the Limitations of International Medical Deployments

open access: yesThe International Journal of Health Planning and Management, Volume 41, Issue 1, Page 259-275, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Gaza's health system has been devastated by a confluence of political determinants that long predated the 2023–25 Israeli military assault and were dramatically intensified during it. Using historical, political economy, ethical, and health systems lenses, this article argues that settler colonialism, military occupation, and a protracted ...

Dynamic Controls on Salt Structures and Translation Velocity at Continental Rifted Margins

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Salt tectonics at rifted margins involves intricate interactions between weak, viscous evaporite layers and brittle sedimentary rocks. Geophysical data and geological interpretation offer valuable insights into evaporite structure formation and the average translation rate of evaporite and sediment layers on time scales of several million ...

A Fluvio‐Lacustrine Environment Preserved in the Jezero Crater Inlet Channel, Neretva Vallis, Mars

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Martian fluvial valleys provide evidence for the surface flow of liquid water, making them a key target for rover‐based investigations of ancient habitability. The Mars 2020 Perseverance rover spent ∼85 sols exploring the Bright Angel formation, exposed across the floor of Neretva Vallis: the western inlet channel of Jezero crater.

Investigating the effects of gravitational lensing by Hu-Sawicki $$\varvec{f(R)}$$ f ( R ) gravity black holes

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
In this work, gravitational lensing in the weak and strong field limits is investigated for black hole spacetime within the framework of Hu–Sawicki f(R) gravity. We employ the Ishihara et al.
