An efficient spectral method for nonlinear Volterra integro-differential equations with weakly singular kernels

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis
For Volterra integro-differential equations (VIDEs) with weakly singular kernels, their solutions are singular at the initial time. This property brings a great challenge to traditional numerical methods. Here, we investigate the numerical approximation

High-Order Multivariate Spectral Algorithms for High-Dimensional Nonlinear Weakly Singular Integral Equations with Delay

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
One of the open problems in the numerical analysis of solutions to high-dimensional nonlinear integral equations with memory kernel and proportional delay is how to preserve the high-order accuracy for nonsmooth solutions.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

The weak ordinarity conjecture and $F$-singularities [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Studies in Pure Mathematics, 2018
Recently M. Mustata and V. Srinivas related a natural conjecture about the Frobenius action on the cohomology of the structure sheaf after reduction to characteristic $p > 0$ with another conjecture connecting multiplier ideals and test ideals. We generalize this relation to the case of singular ambient varieties.

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

Physical mechanism of layer-dependent strong and weak coupling with electromagnetic wave in 2H-MoS2

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2021
In this work, we use the first-principles calculation method to theoretically study the strong and weak coupling between the layer-dependent MoS _2 and electromagnetic waves.

Discerning protein pools by selective staining with self‐labeling tags

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cell surface proteins have an intra‐ and extracellular pool. Combining genetic fusion to self‐labeling tags that can be addressed with small molecule fluorophores allows separating these pools. We highlight recent developments and techniques for state‐of‐the‐art interrogation of cell surface proteins in the complex tissue setting.

Does a primary hair have an impact on the naked singularity formation in hairy Vaidya spacetime?

open access: yesPhysics of Complex Systems
We consider the gravitational collapse of Vaidya spacetime, which has been obtained using the gravitational decoupling method. In this paper, we are interested in whether a primary hair has any impact on the endstate of the gravitational collapse.
