Weakly Symmetric Finsler Spaces

Communications in Contemporary Mathematics, 2010
In this paper, we introduce the notion of weakly symmetric Finsler spaces and study some geometrical properties of such spaces. In particular, we prove that each maximal geodesic in a weakly symmetric Finsler space is the orbit of a one-parameter subgroup of the full isometric group.

A New Class of Weakly Symmetric Spaces

open access: yesRocky Mountain Journal of Mathematics, 1999
A Riemannian manifold \(M\) is called weakly symmetric if any two points \(x,y \in M\) can be interchanged by an isometry. The authors prove that a simply connected Riemannian manifold \(M\) is weakly symmetric if it admits a complete unit Killing vector field \(X\) such that the reflections with respect to the flow lines of \(X\) can be extended to ...

New Examples of Weakly Symmetric Spaces

open access: yesMonatshefte Fur Mathematik, 1998
A weakly symmetric space has been defined first by A. Selberg. According to an alternative definition, this is a Riemannian manifold such that, for every pair of points \(p\) and \(q\), there exists an isometry of this manifold interchanging \(p\) and \(q\).

Algebras of Weakly Symmetric Functions on Spaces of Lebesgue Measurable Functions

open access: yesCarpathian Mathematical Publications, 2023
In this work, we investigate algebras of block-symmetric and weakly symmetric polynomials and analytic functions on complex Banach spaces of Lebesgue measurable functions, for which the $p$th power of the absolute value is Lebesgue integrable, where $p\in[1,+\infty),$ and Lebesgue measurable essentially bounded functions on $[0,1].$ We construct ...

On the Classification of Weakly Symmetric Finsler Spaces

Israel Journal of Mathematics, 2011
The first part of this paper is devoted to a general principle to classify non-Riemannian weakly symmetric Finsler spaces. Namely, if a connected manifold admits a weakly symmetric Finsler metric, then it admits also a weakly symmetric Riemannian metric.

On weakly Ricci symmetric spaces

Publicationes Mathematicae Debrecen, 2002
The authors deal with the special case of Riemannian spaces, namely weakly Ricci symmetric spaces (WRS). These are given by some conditions on the first covariant derivative of the curvature tensor (of the Levi-Civita connection). The definition of the WRS leads to a number of limitations of the curvature.

Weakly Symmetric Spaces and Spherical Varieties

Transformation Groups, 1999
More than 40 years ago, \textit{A. Selberg} [J. Indian Math. Soc., New Ser. 20, 47-87 (1956; Zbl 0072.08201)] introduced weakly symmetric spaces \((M,g)\) in the following way. Let \((M,g)\) be a connected Riemannian manifold, \({\mathcal I}(M)\) its full isometry group, \(G\) a subgroup of \({\mathcal I}(M)\) acting transitively on \(M\), and \(u\) an

On weakly conformally symmetric spaces

Publicationes Mathematicae Debrecen, 2000
The authors introduce the notion of weakly conformally symmetric spaces denoted by \((\text{WCS})_n\), where \(n>3\), establish the existence of \((\text{WCS})_n\) spaces by an example and study the decomposability of such spaces.

Weakly Symmetric Spaces in Dimension Five

Journal of Geometry, 1997
A Riemannian manifold \((M,g)\) is said to be weakly symmetric if and only if, for any two points \(p,q\in M\), there exists an isometry of \(M\) interchanging \(p\) and \(q\). These manifolds have been introduced by Selberg who proved that the algebra of all isometry-invariant differential operators on such a space is a commutative algebra.
