Management of external ventricular drain: to wean or not to wean?
Abstract Purpose External ventricular drain (EVD) is one of the most frequent procedures in neurosurgery and around 15 to 30% of these patients require a permanent cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) diversion. The optimal EVD weaning strategy is still unclear. Whether gradual weaning compared to rapid closure, reduces the rate

The effects of restricted nursing (RN) and the administration of a bovine appeasing substance (BAS) on days −8 and 0 in relation to weaning were evaluated. Both strategies were effective in improving the growth performance of beef calves. Regarding welfare, BAS ‐especially on day 0‐ was more effective than RN.

Relationships Among Beef Cow Productivity Traits and Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in the Bovine Heat Shock Protein 70 Gene [PDF]

This study aimed to investigate the potential of a mannan‐rich fraction (MRF) as a dietary intervention to alleviate weaning stress in piglets. Our results revealed that MRF could alleviate weaning stress by modulating the gut microbiota and the TLR5/NF‐κB signaling pathway, offering a novel and sustainable alternative to antibiotic use in swine ...
