Magnetic-Capacitive Wear Debris Sensor Plug for Condition Monitoring of Hydraulic Systems

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2018
This paper presents a new and efficient sensor for monitoring the presence of wear debris received by the storage tank in hydraulic systems. The proposed sensor plug employs a magnetic approach to attract the ferrous debris in the storage tank.

Vitamin E-stabilized UHMWPE: Biological response on human osteoblasts to wear debris.

Clinica chimica acta; international journal of clinical chemistry, 2018
UHMWPE doped with vitamin E was introduced to provide oxidation resistance upon sterilization, without affecting UHMWPE's mechanical properties. Particle-induced macrophage activation leads to periprosthetic bone resorption, requiring total joint ...

Wear-Debris Analysis in Expert Systems

Tribology Letters, 2001
The strategies of monitoring a machine's condition and carrying out operational equipment maintenance are changing, driven by the need for greater economic and time efficiency in modern industry. Nowadays, wear-debris analysis is becoming one of the key techniques used to screen for the presence of abnormal wear in many types of industrial machinery ...

Granulomatosis associated to porcelain wear debris.

American journal of dentistry, 2002
To determine the origin of a cryptogenic granulomatosis using an innovative diagnosis technique.A patient affected by fever of unknown origin for 9 years was diagnosed with colestasis and acute renal failure with pathological evidence, in parenchimal samples, of granulomatosis of unknown origin.

Surface analysis of prosthetic wear debris

Surface and Interface Analysis, 2005
Abstract Total knee arthroplasty introduces foreign materials into the body that are intended to withstand significant biological and mechanical stresses while maintaining biocompatibility. Unfortunately many arthroplasty patients experience inflammation and pain, presumably due to wear debris that dislodges from the artificial joint ...

Debris control in dry wear testing

Wear, 1981
Abstract In a conventional wear test, debris accumulated from the repeated sliding of the wear pin over the same track dominates the nature of the interaction between the pin and the countersurface. Brush materials to remove the wear debris have been investigated so that more basic interactions between the pin and the countersurface can take place ...

A dynamical FEA fretting wear modeling taking into account the evolution of debris layer

Wear, 2018
A new Finite Element Analysis (FEA) strategy is developed to simulate fretting wear, taking into account the evolution of the debris layer trapped in the interface, so called “third body”.

Wear and Wear Debris in a Changing World

2001
Hydraulic machinery and devices—key components in modern plant operations—are subject to wear and failure of one kind or another. The principal wear processes are described in conjunction with the creation of associated debris. The opportunities available for exploiting debris analysis techniques in pursuit of wear research is discussed against the ...
