Electrified Damage in Motion Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The electrified damage in motion systems is a fundamental framework presenting the degradation pathway arising from the coupling of electrical energy transport with mechanical contact and interfacial chemistry. The framework positions electrified damage as a distinct degradation regime with unique characteristic surface morphologies and failures of ...

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.

The Combined Use of Simulation and Friction and Wear Experiments in the Research of Green Lubricants

open access: yesLubricants
During the operation of mechanical equipment, due to the intense friction among raw material or filler particles, there is conspicuous wear on the contact surfaces of components.

Tissue biomechanical strength, wear resistance and recovery in C4 turfgrass species: physiological and morphological factors and innovative evaluation techniques.

open access: yes, 2011
Turfgrass wear effects are known to be the sum of soil compaction and plant tissue injury. As such, tissue intrinsic resistance to several mechanical factors, including traction stress, is a decisive in determining the wear resistance of a turfgrass ...

Influence of microstructure on wear behaviour of uncoated WC tools in turning of Alloy 718 and Waspaloy

open access: yes, 2012
The effect of grain size in wrought Alloy 718 and Waspaloy on the wear of cemented carbide tools was examined by measuring the progression of wear in a specific transverse turning operation.

Composites of Shellac and Silver Nanowires as Flexible, Biobased, and Corrosion‐Resistant Transparent Conductive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Shellac, a centuries‐old natural resin, is reimagined as a green material for flexible electronics. When combined with silver nanowires, shellac films deliver transparency, conductivity, and stability against humidity. These results position shellac as a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymers for transparent conductors in next‐generation ...

Prediction of wheel profile wear and crack growth - comparisons with measurements

open access: yes, 2016
A model which can predict the length of the surface crack and crack depth in rails was developed in a previous study by the authors B. Dirks, R. Enblom, A. Ekberg, M. Berg (2015) [].

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

The development of rail-head acoustic roughness

open access: yes, 2009
A model of the development of rail-head acoustic roughness on tangent track has been formulated. The model consists of a two-dimensional time domain wheel-rail interaction force calculation, with the normal force used as the input to a two-dimensional ...
