ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Wear mechanisms at the blade tip seal interface
Abradable seals are used at the interface between blade tips and compressor casings in modern gas turbine engines. These materials wear in preference to the blade tips leaving a track which perfectly fits the blades, thus improving sealing at the blade ...

The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Alumina: Effects of Scanning Strategies on External and Internal Defects
This study investigates how scanning strategies affect pure alumina in laser powder bed fusion. Linear 45° scanning yields uniform surfaces but high porosity, while the island‐concentric strategy provides higher density with through‐holes favorable for infiltration. Findings highlight pathways toward optimizing defect‐free alumina parts.

Friction, wear and surface damage mechanisms of pneumatic clutch actuators
Wear and surface degradation mechanisms of a pneumatic clutch actuator have been studied. The applied test method simulates the sliding contact of an anodised aluminium surface against a rubber lip seal and a PTFE guiding ring.
